So how are those 2025 updates coming?MaximKI wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 2:50 pm World in Flames is not abandoned.
We've released several updates over 2024 and are planning more updates for this year. Steve is currently the only active developer working on the game and we're giving him as much time and support to work on these updates. As per multiple communications over the years, we've emphasized that we're moving toward a functional AI, which currently is currently a high priority. However, as bug reports are submitted and time becomes available, Steve does work on singleplayer bug fixing and responds to reports as needed.
Would you update us on the status of the game in general and the AI in particular? It has been 6 months since your last post and there has been zero progress.MaximKI wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 2:50 pm World in Flames is not abandoned.

I would be happy with a store credit that could be used on a functional game.ReconPathFinder wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:01 pm If it smells abandoned, and looks abandoned, its abandoned.
Refunds should be given.
For how much? You should be given exactly what you paid for a game with an AI that was never part of the price of the game and was clearly stated as such.ReconPathFinder wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:01 pm If it smells abandoned, and looks abandoned, its abandoned.

Well, we don't know "zero progress", but yes, a new status update with maybe a new patch would be nice.jaeenox wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 3:01 pmWould you update us on the status of the game in general and the AI in particular? MaximKI did respond to a DM from me. I won't reveal his private communications, but I do suggest everyone interested also DM him to at least let him know that we need more communication even if it's just a monthly no progress update.
First, glad to hear that Steve is well and healthy. No doubt still enjoying Hawaiian sunsets!MaximKI wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 6:44 pm Hey everyone,
Work on World in Flames AI and further bug fixes is ongoing. As mentioned in previous posts, Steve is the only currently active developer who's working on World in Flames, and we're giving him the time and support to get things right. Once we're happy and ready to share something with the public, we will do so.
Jose, very well said!Joseignacio wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:00 pm I like the interface when it works (I mean, no bugs). It even has several ways to do the same thing in case you miss one.
There are things very improvable, like using ENG in combat or doubling with OChits, you need to learn how because it is not intuitive at all. But in general it is very nice IMO.
However, bugs kill me. I keep on having to edit the game for the very many errors it makes along a Global War campaign. Some are unsolvable though and we need to repeat or simply forget about doing the action that hangs the game. Or you need to repeat the 6 rounds in total of the 4 naval/aeronaval battles with their searches and surprise each, and results X D or A each. Undoable as well.
AI was promised when I bought the game but it did not specify that it would come free. So no compromise there that people can be outraged for, IMO.
The bugs are a real Pain in the Ass, and however, with bugs and all I have had a lot of joy as much as I have was enraged because of the bugs .
I am very dissapointed by all this and, however, considering it as a whole, as a hardcore WIF player I must say even if these problems are not solved, and in spite of paying 10 times as much as you can get the game for in the special offers, I don't think I wasted my money.
Projects like this, and on my favourite monster game simply dont happen, and the good moments against the bad moments spent are still more than 200€ worth (or so).
I just hope it will come to be what I hoped it would, some day.
Note: To extend the game outside it's niche, according to my experience with players not previously WIF players, the game should be more friendly to them. I have played with people who simply didnt know some of the things that the game allows to do (not many players study such a big manual, they may leave things unseen), like when you can send planes in a naval combat or interception, which range have them then, or when the CONVs give a +1 and when not (the game calculates but doesnt tell you earlier that you dont get a -1 to the dice because there is storm or blizzard for example.
Or you decide to intercept an SCS going along an area where the enemy has CONV but you dont know that these conv dont help you intercept the SCSs.
This is a game for WIF players (like me) or players who are ready to study these huge manuals with care, and practice for some time as a rookie.
This leaves out 99% of the non WIF players. And then again this may be the reason why they dont understand the mechanics and complain of the game having a difficult interface maybe.
And if somebody mentions the videos, the game simply sometimes doesnt work as explained in the videos, a very clear example is the instructions on how to handle the CONVs.
