I use the drop downs to prevent units that decide to fly to a tanker 250nm a way when they have plenty of fuel. Apart from that I seldom use them.
How would I do that otherwise?

I often use it to check "HOLD or TIGHT" and "Ignore plotted course when attacking" in "ROE" (I always change it with a shortcut key).

The doctrine is set for the mission an ready.
But I do switch a lot between auto evasive action on or off and to press on.
A hot key for this and then I can vote to remove doctrine

I commonly use the EMCON buttons, but the rest I'm fine with removing.
