Hm. Odd, I never noticed that I had so much space left. But you're right, it works much better on a smaller chassis.
I went for a slightly smaller Life Support than your model, and ended up with enough free weight to increase the ECM to level 4. That should allow the Kronos to come close enough to the intended enemy to use it's weapons.
