If you haven't gotten hold of the unofficial titan database update, I would recommend doing so. I think Thorgrim has it. There's a few titans that need a few tweaks due to balancing changes made from ToSv 1.4 and ToS:WS
I could use this too if you don't mind...

Any other details that need clarification with the tutorial, please post them.
Quick Question... In the turorial, it mentions at some point that you can choose to wait tll the next available weapon. (or press x as a hotkey).
When I navigate my menus (unpatched retail version) I cannot find that command, but the X key does work... Is this an oversight? Is it fixed in the patch?

No oversight. It's in the F1 help system, in battle. It's mentioned in the manual too. It's a special hotkey, like 'y' and 'z'.

Not sure you were looking for Iceman's answer or this one... Both are correct, I just wasn't exactly sure what you were asking.
Like Iceman stated the 'x' is a special shortcut for the 'w -> r -> n' wait command 'wait -on recycle- next weapon'. You may not have seen it actively displayed on the menus IF all your weapons are already recycled, in which case it would have been darkened out.

Watch out, too; the hot keys are case-sensitive.

also, mind which mode you're in. I've deactivated my scanner by mistake several times trying to crouch while in attack mode.

Well, I've bought this game purely because I've been searching for a turn based/futuristic combat type game to replay the heydays of a game I used to play on the Amiga (which name escapes me!) So I've ordered it today from Amazon and fingers crossed it'll be what I'm after. I must admit I'm quite excited with anticipation....
So what is the database that Thorgrim has been sending everyone, do I need a copy of it?? :S

MechForce? [;)]
The updated database is basically the same database that comes with the game, but with some improvements to the heat dissipation of some designs, mostly the lower end weight classes. It was also expanded in size - the first version had 33 designs per weight class, latest version has 36. Sleeping Dragon released his own version with 45.
You don't need it, but it is an improvement. It wasn't released in any of the patches because it would overwrite any custom designs players may have saved in their databases, if some steps aren't taken (export/import).

There is a small chance that it will please you as it is marginally inspired by Mechforce [;)]

Hey all,
I just started playing, and have been bitten several times in the early campaign games by not immediately saving a game when I start. I got in trouble in core 3 with a mech stuck in a hex as a bad guy when the hex caught fire. My mech died before I could get out of the hex.
I guess the solution is to go back to core 1 and start over with a new group? Other than this the game seems great!

Getting "bitten" is a good way to learn strategy. I used to favour Hand to Hand combat when I started playing, but lost a few Titans to exploding enemies... So now I favour the "fighting from 3 hexes" approach... Actually my favourite weapon recently is the Plasma Gun....
