Did they tie unit cost to unit "availablilty," rather than combat effectiveness?
If they did, then v7.01 was the zenith of SPWAW, IMHO, of course.

FJ is right. 100 percent correct depends on the player and his concept of what weapons and men could do during that period. For some it will be great! It is for me.
Even more than some of the changes are the addition of so many new and unique units and tools that enable the scenario designer to do battles that are utterly impossible to recreate in other games.
Man! I'm excited about that part of it!

And be advised that the completely revamped and up to date nearly 350 scenarios sent out in 8.0 will also be available.
Now EVERY scenario, hundreds of them, thanks to the hard work of Federico "Resist" Doveri you will have all battles fully compatible with 8.2. No disappointments here!

To clarify my earlier post.
When I used the words "put out to pasture" I meant that Matrix shouldnt invest anymore man hour into the project.
I will of course continue to play the game and if anyone other than Matrix wants to work on the game then I have no objections what so ever.
However it IS time that Matrix moves on to bigger and better projects and finally declares that 8.2 will be the final revision and it will be left at that.
Every hour they spend on SpWaW is an hour they cant spend on a newer project.
This was my meaning the entire time. Perhaps a bit harsh, but their has to be a point in which you retire an aging title.

Before I go any further, this is meant to be humorous!
What do we do with aging gamers, FJ? Stick them in the same pasture?
Please don't take offense. I'm smiling as I write this.
Finally, you did nothing wrong. You made a valid point. All things change. We moved to Steel Panthers from something else and we'll equally move from it to something else...some of us will move a little slower than others, that's all.
You are my friend FJ, and no offense has been taken.

I think this tread is screwed up. The last post listed when I logged in was Erwins, but when I looked it was my own. It seems like it can't get to page 2 or something. I'll put this in and see what happens.
