I would hope that some day SPWAW would be offically considered a completed game with no further patches or updates. That is NOT to say no more MC's or no more fan enhancements like H2H or "my OOB's are better" Just that the game version 8.xx or 10.xx is considered THE game. Much easier to design for and much easier for fans to adapt from, Will SPWAW stay on my hard drive? It's been there from V1 and will remain, like the comfortable yet constantly surprizing old friend it has always been.

Hi, Mark. AFAIK, the 8.2 OOB update will be the final "official" release of these. Additions to the SPWaW help files, icons and lbms are still being discussed or worked on, but the units/weapons/formations database is basically finalized. The delay in the release of the "Generals' Edition" is due to this. This deluxe package will include SPWaW version 8.2 and all four Mega Campaigns. April 2004 promises to be an interesting month for SPWaW players, so stay tuned. [:)]

I too hope this is the last patch. I have been trying to get every major power thru the war since the begining of SPWAW. Every time iget them all up to 1941 a patch came out. So i restarted them all over. I have once again got them all up in the 1941 area again. I have decided i will not start them all over this time. Primarialy because i dont know how much more time i have left in this world. Ill be 73 later this year and have already had 2 heart bypasses. I am not in the best of health. So i will continue the war the way it is now. If i should get all the major powers thruit. Then i will go and start another new campaign after that.

I dont know what the patch will do to what i have in progress. But to tell you the truth i dont care right now. This game is the best for simulation of war i have ever played. I have enjoyed myself more here in this game then for a lot of bad things that has happened in my life. I dont post much but i come here to read what you great people post every day and some times 2 or 3 times. Last year my wife and i went to aberdeen proving grounds for the get together and had a great time. Met wild Bill,M4 Jess and Bernie there. What more can you ask for out of life.

With this, my 6,000th post, I will be indeed putting myself out to pasture. I will be withdrawing from wargaming in the sense of larger efforts such as Mega Campaigns or other projects.

I'm not disappearing...well, I am for awhile.

Let me express my deepest gratitude for the camaraderie, love and support I've gotten from so many of you. In particular, let me offer my thanks to David Heath, a good friend, like a son to me. It was David who opened so many doors of opportunity for me, including getting to know and work with so many of you.

Call it a sabbatical if you wish. I will be back probably but for awhile I want to give some time to other things in my life.

I wish you all the best with SPWAW and your beloved gaming hobby.

Wild Bill Wilder

WB, you are definitely an inspiration to us all. Thank you for everything you've done with SPWAW!! Your contributions have been nothing but a positive for the game!! But don't leave us totally. Be like what George Burns said to John Denver in the movie "Oh God", we'll talk and you listen. [:)] Take care!!
