I dont believe anyone would like to see a half page review of WITP in PC Gamer being soiled by some four page FPS review! Personally, if any of those gamer mags were determined to conduct an extensive and accurate review, then they should dedicate an entire issue to it! [:D]

Everyone is talking about ordering WitP, but I for one will be there at Origins waiting with cash in hand for the Matrix Booth to open so I can get my grubby little hands on it as soon as possible..

I would be shocked and awed if a reviewer actually spent the time to get to know WitP. If the reviewer had never played UV it would be near impossible for them to learn the game in the time they are likely to have to review it. If they had played UV it is likely they could at least point out some of the more obvious differences.
I'd be surprised if it doesn't get reviewed in PC Gamer (US) and I'd be doubly surprised if Trotter -- the guy who, IIRC, reviewed UV -- doesn't write the review. The wargame reviews tend to lag considerably farther behind game release than those of other genres, and maybe this'll mean the reviewer will have extra time. Here's hoping--I came to UV because of the PC Gamer review.
But, still, it'll probably only be half a page.

I came to Matrix from one of Trotters columns way back when. Without PC Gamer I still wouldnt know about Matrix.

I think all you will need to do is watch the absolute lack of messages here following the release to know that it is worth the money. This place will be very quiet from the "shock and awe" of those who start the game up for the first time then think of excuses to not show up to work for the next week or so while they recover.
I've already taken vacation days for my first turn IJN!

Here are two good review sites I have found
www.gamespot.com
They score everything a little low add half a point to any score to get the true score
They give wargames a fair shake and review everything great and small
www.ign.com They give huge reviews (usualy over 6 pages) and do a pretty good job of reviewing a wide varity of games. They have a diverse staff and there wargame reviews are done by some ex-military people who seem pretty compotent

Nah, while I concede the point that no way will there be enough time to ADEQUATELY review WiTP in it's entire scope, I fully expect PC Gamer and probably Gamespot to give it a look. As had been said, while it wasn't extensive, the PC Gamer review of UV is what brought me onboard with Matrix...
As for WiTP however, I suspect I'll have heard a ton of good things by the end of May first part of June and be jumping online to get me a copy...

We shall see... [8D]

Gamespot is good - I've been a member there for many years. However each reviewer has their own tastes. There are a couple of them who review all genres really well, but the guy who initially reviewed UV didn't give it the mark it deserved.
WITP is fun.

Here in Europe it will most likely be reviewed by one of the best wargme magazines around, Vae Victis. Unfortunately, this mag is only in French. Udo Grebe in Germany is coming out with a wargame mag of equivalent quality in English.

Maybe we read different views Luskan? The one I recall from PC Gamer had UV rated in the low 90's. 94% if memory isn't TOO faulty. Whatever the number was, it was the review that sold me. [:)]

I just hoping Matrix has a large enough first production run to meet the demand w/o WiTP getting out of stock in the first two hours...[X(]

amen oops am I allowed to say that? ok for the politically correct .. absolutely f*****G right
and for those whiners out there complaining about the cost.. let us look at cost as an investment.. if 2x3 makes money they will continue to creat enjoyable games as will matrix as a publisher continue to publish...
I see stores that once where havens for pc products carring ONLY xbox playstation stuff...
So my thanks and money are given to componies like HPS and 2x3 etc which remain alive today .. 80.00 is it really that much.. Dinner with my wife at a not really expensive resturant with a bottle of wine and tax tip will be 80.00 or more
SOOO stop whining already...

.....plus independant game sites reviews..
Unfortunately in wargaming there is no such thing. The independant review sites do not have the patience to properly review a wargame - and nor do the bulk of their readers.
"Desktop General" of PC Gamer is about the only guy I can think of that might give it enough time to make an informed review.

I Agree! Will there be an option for us hardcore UV/WitP supporters (or anyone) to PRE-ORDER the game? I want my copy shipped within a nanosecond of the shrinkwrap being sealed. For that matter, forget the shrinkwrap!
Seriously though, will this be an option (SOON, I hope[:)][&o])?

[>:] The whole this game cost too much is old. If you do not appreciate quality work and a great game go spend $40-$50 on a crap game. I will bet that everyone here has spent close to that on games in the past that have only been played a few times because they were unplayably flawed. $80 for a game such as this and the market that it will have is a cheap price. Most everyone here will play it for years and Matrix has already shown by past action that it will support what it sells unlike a lot of game companys where it is just too bad the game stinks.
