If a game is good enough and becomes a favourite. The I will pay as much as necessary.
If CL has all the options and gameplay I think it will I will pay upto £50.00. Maybe even higher.
Christ all those crappy comsole games are released at £49.99 here.
Ive just paid including delivery about £38.00 for HTTR.
What I would like to know is say instance BIN or COTA or WITP comes out. Will UV, HTTR and KP drop in price as they would do in a shop. Or will MAtrix sell all the games at full whack even though they might be outdated.

This is a market-based economy (generally [;)]). The seller can bloody well charge whatever the market will bear. [:'(]
From my standpoint, they deserve my business just for flying all the way to Ohio from Australia. So I bought a copy. Now if it would just get here.

I would be glad if matrix could bundle some games together for a slightly lower price. Cause in October of this year (I hope... no, no, I dream) I think there's gonna be a huge hole in my pocket where all my money will fall into MG's hands. Seriously, Battlefields; COTA; BIN; CL; WitP; and those I forgot... I want them ALL!!! But i have limited resources.. [:(]

no, that would cost you $30 more. Wait, I forgot, Matrix has posted that it is more expensive to sell it WITHOUT a box and a manual!

Try adjusting the reinforcements and supply levels for both sides, give the computer an advantage and yourself a disadvantage, and see how you go then.

Given that it will be a digital release, this should reduce production and distribution costs A LOT. So they could stay at least with the same price.
BTW, I'm gonna buy it anyway so...
Everyone thinks that Digital Downloads are cheaper.... well they are not... you must consider the price of the network and bandwidth and many other items.

COTA thread
Marc, see the above...

An where does David say that it is more expensive to sell without box and manual ? He´s simply stating that some people do not consider that the costs for getting the game to the people are simply swapped. Print and packaging costs are exchanged with costs for bandwith and server hosting. There´s no saving if you compare it directly.

well, i am even starting to bore myself with this, but here is where he says its more expensive: "Everyone thinks digital downloads are cheaper . . . well they are not." So, I guess you could say he meant the price is the exact same, but I doubt anybody would believe this. The cost of shipping and printing a game is the same as Digital River charges you for downloading a game?
No offense, but this is absolutely frigging impossible.

At the end of the day, it comes down to market.
Matrix will sell their items for as much as they can get for them. The market will dictate whether they have charged correctly. And good luck to them.
The point is, how much do you want to support the hobby. I personally have an issue with the price (as well as the strat guide) and have choosen not to buy HTTR. I am gutted about it...I read all these reviews and I hear it's great...so I guess I am missing out.
But at the end of the day, although I love strategy games, and this is a big transformation from the normal strategy game, I just couldn't pay that money for that kind of game. I like eye candy...and that's why I went and bought Joint Operations:Typhoon Rising on Friday rather than HTTR.
HTTR apperas to be a great game - if Matrix can sell it at $60 dollars, then good luck to them.

Well, I guess you will have to take my word for it then. Care to explain why it is "impossible" ?

At the end of the day, I think (hope) we all want Matrix to succeed and flourish so they can continue to put out all these great new wargames. I will pay extra for a good number of games on the list of upcoming games. Again, to be fair to the other point of view, Matrix should keep an ear to the ground as to what is "too much" for a good number of people. If these great games stop selling in good volume, we are all out of luck. And I sure don't want that to happen anytime soon!

sure i can explain why.
obviously, i don't have access to your contract with digital river. but bandwith can be purchased for about $1 per GB. (i know because i live and a developing country, and have to buy it). add unto that, say, a $1.50 transaction fee that digital river charges you. simply positively no way you can print and ship a CD, manual, and box (let alone give the retailer his cut) for $2.50.
now, maybe digital river charges you $15 per transaction, but that would be laughable.

Some people here (and in other threads) have expressed strong opinions about pricing of games. But most undermine their arguments before even getting to the end. How often do I have to read "The price is too high. This is an outrage. But I'll probably buy it in the end anyway. I can't wait for it to come out."
Vote with your money. If you can't wait a month after its release to see if the game is selling and what the reviews report, then you don't have much bargaining power anyway.

Oh god, that is really funny!
Try some real numbers:
1.54 Mbps - $702 per month
3.08 Mbps - $1382 per month
6.16 Mbps - $2720 per month
20.02 Mbps - $8697 per month

also, i would not say "matrix will charge the maximum that the market will bear," but rather, "matrix will charge the amount that they believe will generate the greatest income"
i say this because there isn't much of a "market" wherein the customer can pick and choose. their competition is limited to battlefront and shrapnel, both of whom charge reasonable prices for quality products, but neither of whom have any product now or in the immediate future. (and HPS makes junk and charges outrageous prices).
i am starting to think of matrix as the microsoft of wargaming. they "buy up" smaller companies with good ideas, until they are in a position to charge whatever they want as there is no longer a "market".
just my opinion, and hope that their new pricing strategy is a miserable failure.
