you first

And for people like you I spend thousands of hours working to get this game as good as possible. [8|]

Nah, you spend 'thousands' of hours doing it because you get a free copy and you get to play a game you enjoy prior to it's release.

I second this statement

True, but you do enjoy playing before the release. Come on, admit it.

You see me playing or sitting here answering questions in the support forums on my holiday?

Frankly, I could ignore all this crap and play Nik right now with the last version we already have. [8|]

Nah, just because you support matrix too, doesn't substantiate your post that you're doing it for 'the people' for 'thousands' of hours.

Good try though....

I for one appreciate everyone's time on the game.

Mr.Frag, you do know that you like to shake things up a little bit with people and say somethings that you know will annoy people? Right now is probably not the correct time to pour kerosene on anything. I figured you were joking with the 5:59 pm Friday post, but it appeared that some people did not. Perhaps a little less joking might keep things calmer.

On the flip side, I don't think taking shots at Mr.Frag helps things either.

Really.

The problem with beta testing is that there are thousands of idiots out there who beta test for just the reason that they want to play the game first and get it now. They do a crappy job of noticing the little things going wrong and don't provide much help to the developers at all. People like that are worse than degree hunters... looking for that extra little badge to lord it over people... I'm a beta tester... woo.

Installing fix after patch after fix and retesting one small detail in a game over and over or any bit of software isn't fun, and hardly allows a lot of playing time. If by the end of the beta a truly good game comes out, the beta tester has a right to be laid back and have a little fun.

If Mr. Frag exaggerates a little on number of hours spent, its probably because he has spent what feels like that much WORKING on the game instead of playing it.

Do we have nothing to do but vent our frustration on someone because they have the game?

It's amazing that it's common knowledge that most Beta Testers are just trying to get the game early, yet the gaming companies still rely on the same Beta testers for every release. I have submitted a resume of sorts for all sorts of games to become a tester. My background is in deploying network client-server applications for a Fortune 10 company. Strangely enough, I've only been selected once.

By the way, this is no reflection on Matrix as I haven't applied as a tester here.....yet. [;)][;)][;)]

This thread deserves to be bumped up until the requested sticky appears. And make it a sticky that cannot be replied to. In other words lock it so that only information from Matrix appears in the thread.

Well, we doing a product evaluation, trying to install the base monitoring packages and add two custom monitors for our financial settlement package to see how useful Tivoli could be to us. But the installation fails. Standard IBM to and fro:

1) Is the latest Framework stable? Yes

2) Can we install the Evaluation copies we download from IBM? Yes.

3) Are there any known problems? Not if you follow the installation instructions.

4) And if we have installations problems can you help? Only if you purchase a support contract.

Ugh!!!!

Well, you know, nothing in life is free. [;)]

If you are serious, you should be able to hook up with a technical sales rep who can move things through the system a little better then someone who just downloads the free sample off the web site.

It's the old standard Catch22 when dealing with IBM. We don't want to purchase until we can evaluate. We have to install before we can validate. We have to have to have technical support for help with install. We have to pay for technical support. We don't want to purchase until we can evaluate........

Our local reps are less than helpful. Fortunately I know some Tivoli types down at Union Pacific that say they can help.....
