Just pray you don't run into a surface combat TF
But remember these happen after movement so the likely effect of a surface attack/combat would be the tf attacking running through all defensive tf's ... not a good thing unless heavily armed... and then who cares?

Correct, but you were sending them in as a Bombardment force. The presumption is that you have already cleared the way of ships with CV/Surface fleets. You don't rush Bombardment TF's in and just *hope8 there isn't 10 enemy BB's there waiting [:D]

Point well taken. THe AI can only do so much...most "give and take" would be absorbed by a local commander, but a game doesn't lend the same flexibility. You just have to make some plans on behalf of the AI.
