Has anybody bumped this as a BUG report yet? I can imagine sending badly damaged subs to Russia, ones to flooded to make the long trek back to Pearl, but rearming in Russia should not be allowed.
Any ships sent to these ports should be imprisoned (held) until the soviets enter the war... The Soviets kept any plane landing on their soil during the war against japan, so why the hell wouldn't they keep a ship ?
If this isn't fixed / banned in PBEM play, then I want some neutral central american ports for my japanese subs along the west coast. Turn about is far play...
I know my request is stupid and I really think they need to fix the Soviets supplying chinese unit bug first.. I don't see any people using the Soviet base bug in PBeM, but having it fixed (if possible) in the future would be nice..

Good catch. I'm just such a "reality" fan I never considered such a possibility let alone try it.[;)]

I see several issues here.
1. Russia supplying Chinese. This happened historically and I don't see it as a problem. Unless someone can ref doc that show it did not happen I will not put it on my list.
2. Using Russian posts as sub base. I will defiantly add this to my list and try and get this fixed.
2. Using Russian ports for surface ship rearming/refueling. I thought we took care of this during testing (did not think of subs). I need this confirmed with a save.

I haven't looked yet, but is the Chinese forces split between Nationalist and ChiCom? If so.. and if the Russians supply only the Chicom, then yes it's possible.
I don't know how much they got, but I know the Japanese kept trying to interdict supplies. Given the harsh area to work in, I wouldn't think they got very much.

I haven't thought to try it, but can you send supply ships with or without supplies to Russian ports? Can you load them with supply and ship them around? If so was this teh case in WW2? I know the Allies had the ArchAngel stuff going on, woudl you be able to do the same from teh East?

SunD,
Didn't a Doolittle crew crash in Vladi? I was thinking that was where I first saw the intern thing. I never heard that they were released, but it's entirely possible.
I know a professor who specializes in the Gulags. I can shoot him an email and see if he knows anything about the WW2 internment process/figures.
Hi,
I know a little bit about this. The Soviets did not want to do anything that might disturb the Japanese while the Germans were still fighting in Russia. In addition, Stalin was paranoid about letting any foreigners, even his allies, viewing his military and bases in Russia.
For example, he would not allow American crews to fly lend-lease planes into Russia. About 8,000 aircraft were turned over to Russians pilots and crews in Fairbanks Alaska, and the Russians flew them to Nome, and then into the Soviet Union.
Stalin rejected a US request in early 1942 to send a team of experts to check out Soviet Pacific ports and airbases with a view towards future cooperation.
When American planes were forced to land in Russian airspace, they were interned. Generally, they were returned to the US within a few months, although individual circumstances varied. The Russians always kept the planes -- and in case of the B-29, copied her down to the last bolt. The Russian TU-4 Bomber (IIRC) was an exact copy of a B-29.

Not for long ... it's a little loophole that nobody thought to close ... As to how it gets closed, not sure yet.
My vote was internment until Russia is activated. [:D]

I agree Frag I think they should close the loophole and or Intern the ships. I was no tplanning to use this loophole unless it was deemed not a loophole with some evidence. But I coudl make a nice base out of Kiska or ATTU with Borchst from Vladivastock.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but, in fact, a vast majority of Soviet equipment and supplies went to Kuomintang and not to Mao and friends. If anything, Soviets shouldn't supply ChiCom in the game...

Agreed. As far as I know, the USSR had been supplying China's "lawful" givernment (aka Chiang) since about 1934 or so. They even had a real-life Marshal of the Soviet Union (Blucher, a big Civil War hero) as a military advisor directly to Chiang, in addition to all sorts of advisory missions and even flight crews.

Really cheating from my perspective if one uses Ruskie Bases.. like using the editor and creating a base in JApan itself for subs.... if you want to beat the ai that badly just use the editor

Interesting about the Russian supply. I always thought they supported Mao's folks since Chiang spoke out against Communists so much.
Thanks for the info,
