For what it's worth, the minenram was completely unarmed; it didn't even have a turret. This wasn't a problem, though; as it never existed. A prototype was completed, then the whole project was dropped. Exactly what was supposed to be on the front boom, I can't find out; a flail seems rather unGerman, so perhaps it was some kind of plow.

The MineRam can represent several odd German Proto-Type mine clearing vehicles they tried during the war. So far, it has be removed from oob and only be found in secert ;)

I still can't get over the Glider's Landing behind the Kurgan :D :D

An Observation...

It seems to me that Soviet units "go berserk" too frequently.

I've lost count of the number of firefights I've engaged in where the Soviet unit (pretty much all unit types from what I can tell) suddenly goes from Routed to Ready with Zero suppression.

If each game turn represents several minutes of combat, should Soviet units be going berserk at a rate of several per minute of battle?? I might believe a rate of a handful per Battle, but a handful per Turn seems about 20 times too high a rate of going berserk.

I would like to see the rate of Soviet (and presumably Japanese although I haven't tested the Japanese yet) berserk units cut by a factor of 10 to 20.

The Stalingrad Patch that fixes the Icon problem in Battle Two of the Stalingrad Patch will be posted soon on several fine SP sites: Sp Arsenal Page, Tankhead's site, The Armor Site, and the 28 North Battalion site.

These should be up by Monday!

I hope to have the patch up very soon. I've made the edits to my web page on my system, only to find my Site server is down temporarily. As soon as my site is back up, I'll get the update online.

Sorry for the delay

This just in; the Red Star Tractor Factory has fallen to the brave soldiers of the 6th Army. Newsreel at 11.

I must say, though, that I'm a bit annoyed that it's impossible to take the city. The second tractor factory (Dzerzhinsky works) was set in November, the first (Red October) in early October. The train station fell in what, late August? So no matter how well the player does, he's going to sit around and wait for Operation Uranus? There really should be some way to actually *win* the battle of Stalingrad, not just score a moral victory...

Restarted the campaign last night post patch. Manages marginal victories in the first two battles. Kind of wonder what did those Soviet rifle squad use for weapons. Everytime an unsuppress unit fire at my engineer, it wipe out at least 3 or 4 men. In the meantime, it takes 8 halftrack over 2 turns just to destroy a squad.

The Camapign was designed to give one a feel of the battle of Stalingrad - there is away to capture the City but MMMM is the word.

I'll have to check into the date differences between the Factory Battles - beta testors failed to mention this to me and I didn't catch it. Keep up the reports so I can do another patch when needed.

Remember - if you get stuck in Stalingrad in December - game is almost impossible to win.

The Campaign tries to flow with historical events..

Relief forces advance on Stalingrad pocket, local counterattack repelled. Minister Goebbels lauds valiant troops. Newsreel at 11.

I realize that it's a quirk of the new update; but infiltration is getting downright silly. During the train station battle, two complete platoons of Soviet troops snuck into the nail factory through a complete ring of troops, appearing in the middle of two platoons of riflemen and engineers who completely occupied the interior (it had just fallen, they were reorganizing). I realize that battle lines in a city fight can be fluid; but this is getting silly. In several other battles I let it slide because there was a possible route in (for invisible troops); but a rat couldn't have gotten in there...Oh, well; garrison early, garrison often.

Just finished the second battle, the fight for the bridges in the village. During the battle I saw a T-70 drive onto the VH in the church, where it became immobolized. Several turns later when I stormed the church the tank was gone! What gives?

Secondly why in the encyclopedia does the SdKfz 7/1 have a single 37mm AA gun and in the campaign it has a pair of mg's as well?

Excellent campaign so far, that ammo carrier in the second battle saved my butt allowing my on-board 75's and mortars to fire constantly

Ahh - this represent Sewer Movement! This was the only way to do this aspect of the battle was to use of infiltration mode of special units. Nasty little buggers are those that crawl out of the sewers behind the lines and strike fast and hard!

I agree that in this case there is a reasonable justification for it; but how do trucks appear out on the open without crossing the intervening terrain? In a later battle the Germans slaughtered roughly a company of Soviet motorized troops by simply sitting around their appearance hex and blowing them away as they tried to unload (I found the hex by accident, but it was a nice neighborhood to hang out...). There can't be sewers under the entire USSR, after all. Escape tunnels, maybe, but not sewers.

Which Battle(s) was this on? I do not recall using USSR Trucks in this manner - this could be another Icon/graphic/oob bug that slipped through the cracks. Please let me know what battle(s) this occured on so I can investigate this further.
