Here you go - from Stemming the Tide, a variation on the Kiwis Fight Back scenario which deals with events at Maleme Airfield from the early hours of 21 May:



Here I Bn/LLStR is probing across the airfield (vacated during the night by 22 Nz Inf Bn), while most of II/LLStR secures the vital ground at Point 107 and 9.III/LLStR stoutly holds off a battalion-strength push by the Kiwis at Xamoudkhori.

Another shot from Springing The Trap at Corinth: this time from the Allied perspective. 2/7th Au Inf Bn is to make a diversionary attack out of the treeline East of the Canal, while 17th Au Inf Bde gets ready to make the main push from the Northeast.

Here's some bad news - the Brigade is already getting units in position for their FUP reorg, while 2/7th is still a few hundred metres short of their start line. If the main attack goes in first, the diversion will be wasted.

Things could be going better. The 'diversion' did indeed start late, so the main attack bore the brunt of the German firepower since the defenders only had one set of targets to shoot at. Not a good look for the Allies!

On the plus side, the Germans obviously expected us to come from the direction of the diversion - some earlier probes by individual units in this area have paid off. You can see here we are striking the enemy flank, which might help to offset our fairly weak state.

The 2/7th has become disorganised crossing a series of creeklines in the dark, and needs to police up its soldiers and reset its formation:

At daybreak things are looking interesting. 2/5th has actually made some good progress in chewing up the flank of the German defences, who have been unable to reorient themselves due to the threat from 2/7th and the various AT and MG units grouped under Isthmus Force HQ (in the Southeast corner of the screenshot). With the firepower of both 25pdr batteries concentrated in this area and under pressure from both sides the defences here are gradually starting to crumble!

At last! Loutrakiou Ridge is in Allied hands after a tough night of fighting. Attacking through the woods against a dug-in enemy, the Australians are feeling the strain - the dark red colour shows how tired they have become, while the enemy still seems relatively fresh. This could just be the way it looks to us though - it is quite possible that his situation is just as stretched as ours!

Great AAR. I enjoyed seeing the action on a smaller scale. These brigade- and regiment-sized struggles are what I like about the game.
