Here's what I (Japan) did:
1. My opponent (Allies) sent me the file.
2. I saved it as Game #10.
3. I loaded Game #10.
4. I viewed the turn playback (took Malacca).
5. I issued multiple orders etc etc, including Jap units in Malacca to march.
6. I screwed something up.
7. I cursed because I didn't save it yet.
8. I exited.
9. I loaded Game #10.
10. On the playback, Japs failed to take Malacca.
11. In the Orders phqase, Japs weren't in Malacca.

Moral of the story...I don't know!

Version of *both* players?

Game started under version *both players?

Did reloading it *again* produce different results?

11. In the Orders phqase, Japs weren't in Malacca.

repeat 9. multiple times ... each time save the combat report ... are they all the same or is each one different somewhat?

also:

What version are You running, is it the same as what the guy you are playing is running?

also:

Was the game started under 1.21 or a previous version?

1. I repeated #9 multiple times (5 or 6), but don't know whether it was EXACTLY the same. I do know that Malacca wasn't taken each time. I've deleted the game since, so can't continue the experiment.

2. Yes we both have v1.21

3. Game was started as v1.21.

I guess that's all I can do now. Just wondrin' if anyone else encountered the "different results" thing.

Save the 4 txt files from your save directory, reload it again, and look for differences when it reproduces them.

Please also list the options you both have set.

Remember WYSIWYG? What you see is what you get. I think you can reasonably expect that what you see on your computer is what the other guy is seeing...but not absolutely. Certainly the game is designed to do this and certainly if there are bugs they will be dealt with in the future. But I can give you another illustration of why no one shouldn't insist that WiTP will ALWAYS give the exact same results on one computer as on another when playing PBEM....at least not yet.

I'm playing a PBEM (scenario 16) using 2.21. I landed a IJN invasion force at Rabual only to find he had reinforced it before I knew it. I withdrew my invasion force a couple of days later. On my computer there is no land force present at Rabaul. Yet the USN player continues to attack my empty force and receive reports of IJN casualties taken. He has done this the last four turns...and even went to a shock attack this last turn to gain more casualties.

It really matters little in the larger scheme of things, as 7 casualties a turn aren't going to upset the balance of power in the game. And I even doubt that such casualties are even going against the points as real losses, though I haven't taken a pencil out to chart this...for the above same reasons.

I know we aren't supposed to mention UV in this forum, for some odd reasons, but I think you can see the good track record from UV being ported over to this game as well. Such bugs were discovered in UV. Most have been eliminated. Maybe a few are left. But progress was made on a broad scale. You can expect the same here.

Argh, but it get's worse.

Now that very same force wont unload from my APs.

So the computer either thinks they are still at Rabaul, or they are hiding on the ships, or worse yet...they got left off in the Bermuda Triangle.

I have the game file....anyone at Matrix want to look at this?

You are sure you haven´t forces left in Rabaul?
Some stupid filters prevent you from seeing your forces in enemy bases (or your patrolsquadrons at your own etc). When you exit the base you will see the icons for your units at the bottom and you can access them this way.

Very sure. In fact, the forces are sitting in Truk now.

Matrix has the game file. They are chasing this one down.
