I know what you mean. In my game, 50 B-17s is just a myth. 300 B-29s..... that's hard to imagine.

Lets see, 1 B-29 carries 40 500lb GP bombs (according to the database), times 300, that is 1,200 GP bombs. And if 4 would knock out a carrier..... mwahahaha, hahahaha, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....Hahah, mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

well the number of bombs doesn't matter.

IIRC a level bomber can only hit a ship with just one bomb.. no matter how much it carries..

Well, yes, I read that too. But it's intuitive that a longer/denser 'stick' improves the chance of getting that hit...

I'd hope they were packing 1000lB GP though.

I did just this in the 45 campaign. I had over 200 B-29s from Tinian intercept 2 Jap CVEs and escorts. They hit each of the CVEs over 50 times and creamed the escorts. And all this was from 20,000ft. I can only inagine if I had them Skip Bomb from 100ft.

GOOD GOD, 'YALL!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me youre joking. 50 times each?! You know, I was just kidding about that. Now here comes RUPD to tell me I'm not. Did you get a new column in the reports for "Ships Obliterated off the face of God's green Earth"? [&o][X(]

The best part was that they went unescorted through the CAP. I was using them for City attacks but got a sighting report that there were carriers 2-3 hexes away so I decided to put the B-29s on naval attack.

I guess when you drop that many bombs you don't need each one to be too accurate.

I am guessing that the 50+ hits may be FOW unless the entire bomb load of one B-29 hit each CVE. Or maybe they went after the lifeboats too.....
