DEC 18/19 1941:
Malaysia: Aloa Star fall and my troop begin moving south. The Allied AF is still quiet and his capital ships are nowhere to be seen.
Bornio: Kuching is now a major air base and attacks allied bases in Bornio on a daily basis. A landing has been made at Jesselton and ships my ships have been sighted off Bruni.
PI: The battle of San Jose has ended with the surrender of 180 allied soldiers. A lot of trouble to gain a seaplane base but those airborne troops had nothing else to do for the moment. Legaspi fell and my troops have moved to Naga. Lingayen falls without a fight. Strange he moved forces there and then retreated them when I got there. Now there is nothing between me and Clark.
Wake: I've had BB's shelling Wake for 3 days and on the 19th my troops landed without any coastal gunfire. The initial assault did not carry the position but it reduced the forts to zero and I only took 78 casualties. It should fall next turn. Allied carriers did not try to intervene.
China: The hex north of Changsa fell easily. Only one Chinese division was defending. Now the choice is to head for Chungking or try and clear the railway.

PI:
poor San Jose and the reinforced company i actually got ashore. lets see where the big battles take us here! I do notice you haven't come peicemeal up to Clark. Manila might take afew days to clear,if you have the boys for it comingup the RR from Naga.
China:
Not ready to commit to a big standup fight close to your bases.
burma:
I'm up the road!
DEI:
you are pushing the tempo, lets see how it goes.
Wake:
I didn't send those poor slobs anything, wasn't willing to be sucked into a battle i can't win.

Dec 20/21 1941:
Singapore: It looks like a major disaster as Taiping falls and another Bde retreats to Georgetown with the 2 others that retreated from Aloa Star. Its hard to see how they will avoid destruction and a quick victory at Singapore now seems possible. Allied AF is still quiet. I'm not sure if it has evacuated or is just resting.
Burma: Moulmain is taken without a fight. Its not clear where TOPHAT intends to make a stand. Nells and zero's are engageing the buffalo's at Rangoon with predictable effects.
DEI: Simultanious invasions take Miri, Brunei, and Jesselton. A BB bombardment of Brunei crushed all resistance and only a couple martins were able to harass the landings.
Ambonia now bases Zero's and Nells which bombard the port at Kendari.
PI: Naga falls and my forces push toward clark from both north and south.
Wake: 23rd Naval guard takes Wake.
Things are going too well.

Malaya:
Things are going well for you indeed! Still abit of jungle between you and singapore yet though and yes i am trying something new instead of runningup and throwing myself on your bayonets!
PI:
No real fighting yet and the boys are nice and dugin.
DEI:
I'm simply shocked, shocked i say that the Dutch haven't thrown all the Jap landings back into the SEA! I had it from several dutch Admirals, generals and staff officers that this was sheer disaster for the japs to land at Borneo! Today none of them are answering their phones!
PH:
MASSIVE RESUPPLY HAS HIT THE DOCKS! If this was NZ the dockworkers would be on strike!
Subs are moving into position along various sea lanes....................
NG:
First Jap landings here and at Admiralty island.

DEC 22 1941:
The Dutch Navy intervenes with 3 CL's and 6 DD's at Ambonia catching my transports unprotected. 2 AK's are lost and it could have been much worse. My AF units which could have retaliated were all off doing other things. Very stupid. I should make him pay for attacks like that and all the units I needed to do so were in place.
The allies had a good turn. Two transports were hit by torpedoes and the CA Aoba was hit by several bombs and a torpedo as it approach Kendari. Lots of allied subs are in the Ambonia/Kendari area.
In other action Tophat has moved elements of the AVG into Rangoon and these engaged my zero's and Nells.
Day Air attack on Rangoon , at 29,34
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 24
G3M Nell x 20
Allied aircraft
Buffalo I x 8

yes it was a good turn/day for the Allies. More landings on NG eastcoast, mindinao still not hit with landings...doesn't matter all of it will be japanese inside of 2 months.
The silent Service is actually dealingout some damage now,we'll see if it continues. I need cloudcover this nextday as Jap aircraft will be out in force. I do have a b-17 group hitting ambonia and P-40's that can provide aircover, thats still one smaller airbase he's got there.
CHINA:
Get boys into position to cut supplylines, spread someout and be ready to do it! Also dig like fiends were after you!
Australia:
buildup has started!
PH:
Not too bad now.......looking for when KB re-emerges and hoping a sub gets lucky. I've stakedout some select spots.
Palmyra.......Canton Island area:
No Jap subs sighted! No jap ships sighted!! No Recon aircraft from Tarrawa,nuthin.....I don't like it!

The Dutch navy that attacked at Ambonia is destroyed by my carrier force that has raced across the Pacific from PH. 3 CL's and 4 DD's confirmed kills. In addition my nells and betties from Kuching and Ambonia launch numerous attacks against shipping on the east coast of Bornio. 9 transports or auxillieries were hit over the 3 day period by betties or nells. The South Seas detachment has landed at Kendari after surface forces there bombarded the port and completed the destruction of the dutch naval force. Troops have also landed at Menado and taken Bula near Ambonia. The allies at least get several air hits on the CA Aoba which now limps back to port.
Singapore: 3 allied brigades are trapped in Georgetown and my forces are now bombarding in preparation for an assault in a day or two. A division has reached Kuantan from Khota Buru and will soon attack that base.
Burma: TOPHAT seems to be in full retreat. After fighting a brief air battle with the AVG in Rangoon he pulled all his AF out and with my troops now north and adjacent to Rangoon my intel shows an insignificant force in that city. Does he intend to even defend Mandelay?????
PI: My troops move very slowly into position except in the south where I have reached Manila. Forces seem to have been shifted to meet me there so it looks like there will be a period of mutual bombardments. My forces north of clark inch forward and will arrive soon.
China: Hengchow falls and my forces continue there advance south along the railroad. The allied force has made no serious attempt to stop me.

Not much to say here...japs are on the march everywhere, then again thats how its supposed to be and so it is. He's really pushing the pace this time around and has actually sent CV's where i have dutch subs with torpedos that work......lets see if i get lucky and make him pay.....[:D]
I don't simply want to gift him surface ship kills to his airforce! So we run, hide and survive.
I was most dissapointed in Borneo today though,my Minelayer was bushwacked by surface forces before the mines could be deployed. Well it was a dutch minelayer,so perhaps it was a bit much to expect of them, there were only 2 Battleships and some cruisers though.
I'm running farther north in Burma,he should have small trouble taking Rangoon and I retain all those forces to actually use effectively!
We will see what the morrow brings.....

26-29 DEC 1941:
I've demonstrated how not to invade the PI. I sent 6 Divisions there to force a quick victory. My troops concentrated north of Clark and bagan crossing the river. In my haste I did not cross all my forces at once. TOPHAT lauched two attacks on the 27th and 29th. Each attack achieved 2-1 odds and drove my troops back across the river. The disruption you get from the river crossing hurts and by not concentrating my forces I let him crush me. I lost about 100 victory pts and although his losses were about equal or even greater there is no doubt that this was a great victory for the allies. No more hope of a rapid victory in the PI. 26-29 DEC 1941
Day Air attack on TF, near Raba at 26,71---29 DEC
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 28
D3A Val x 91
B5N Kate x 67
Japanese aircraft losses
D3A Val: 13 destroyed, 28 damaged
B5N Kate: 2 destroyed, 17 damaged

BB Prince of Wales, Bomb hits 7, Torpedo hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
CL Durban, Bomb hits 3, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
CL Dragon
CL Mauritius, Bomb hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
Don't know what the allies were planning here. My carriers had been off the coast of Kendari the previous turn and had sunk several minesweepers and a couple transports leaving the BB's alone. I thought for sure they would be long gone on the 29th and made no effort to pursue them. For some reason they stayed at Raba and now both BB's are confirmed kills. Some Betties from Kendari also stopped by and finished the destruction of the CL's. There is now no effective allied surface force in the DEI.
Singapore: 3 allied brigades surrender at Georgetown on the 28th. My forces now concentrate for the move south to singapore.
DEI: Kendari falls on the 27th and now bases betties and zero's. Combined with aircraft operating out off Kuching, the east coast of Borneo is essentially blockaded.
Burma: Rangoon fells without much of a fight on the 29th. There were no brigades defending it as I suppose he intends on defending at Mandelay???
China: I continue to advance south along the railroad swatting small chinese forces out of my way.
vic Rabaul: I've now landed on Kaving supported by zero's flying from the admiralty islands. Stupidly I landed a base force unit thinking that it could take the island on its own. Unfortunatly these units are not allowed to attack. I sent a fast tranport unit consisiting of one ML and one MSW. The allies intercepted this with a single CL. I came off worse in the engagement and failed to land the unit. At least nothing got sunk. Sadly had my transports, which were still landing the base unit, not been set on retreat the allied CL would have probably been creamed.

Dec 29th:
Well POW and Repulse were lost due to my stupidity alone. I forgot/misinterpreted the reaction rule being that naval units will only react to a friendly base hex,I was shooting for a 2 hex midocean intercept. It was a foolish gamble to begin with and got no better as the turn unfolded. such is life though...........we fight on!
Ok now that the meaculpa is out of the way atleast we killed some IJN pilots, damaged some aircraft and maybe got an ops loss or two......I'm looking on the bright side of things people.
North of Rabaul:
Day Air attack on TF, near Kavieng at 61,86
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 5
Allied aircraft
Wirraway x 12

Wirraway: 1 damaged
Japanese Ships
AP Seattle Maru, Shell hits 4
AP Katori Maru, Bomb hits 2, on fire
PG Takunan Maru #10
AP Denmark Maru, Shell hits 4, Bomb hits 1, on fire
my RAAF units hit back! Then again later in the day:
Day Air attack on TF, near Kavieng at 61,86
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 4
Allied aircraft
Wirraway x 9
No Japanese losses
No Allied losses
Japanese Ships
AP Denmark Maru, Shell hits 8, on fire
Though moses was wrong about the naval action unless Fog of war is well afoot!
Night Time Surface Combat, near Kavieng at 61,86
Japanese Ships
MSW Tama Maru #2, Shell hits 8, and is sunk
ML Takashima, Shell hits 1
Allied Ships
CL Adelaide, Shell hits 1
Japanese ground losses:

Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 22481 troops, 249 guns, 17 vehicles
Defending force 2737 troops, 1 guns, 0 vehicles
Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1 (fort level 3)
Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 2
Japanese ground losses:
39 casualties reported
Guns lost 2
Allied ground losses:
158 casualties reported
yes Rangoon is gone now but it was never going to last long anyway nor did i have the forces to sacrafice in its defense. Toops have been redeployed elsewhere! And yes at some point i'll actually fight!
Menado:
continues to holdout............
Ground combat at Menado
Japanese Bombardment attack
Attacking force 796 troops, 6 guns, 0 vehicles
Defending force 1840 troops, 12 guns, 1 vehicles
Japanese ground losses:
4 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
PI:
Well over the last 2-3 days U.S forces have thrown back Jap forces advancing on Clarkfield. here is the last report:
Ground combat at Clark Field
Allied Deliberate attack
Attacking force 34407 troops, 305 guns, 131 vehicles
Defending force 74301 troops, 620 guns, 14 vehicles
Allied assault odds: 1 to 1
Japanese ground losses:
1008 casualties reported
Guns lost 30
Vehicles lost 5
Allied ground losses:
274 casualties reported
Guns lost 13
So all is not going smooth for the Jap in PI.....good!
Manila is still tying him up as well:
Ground combat at Manila
Allied Bombardment attack
Attacking force 10991 troops, 155 guns, 0 vehicles
Defending force 20201 troops, 223 guns, 12 vehicles
Japanese ground losses:
4 casualties reported
Allied ground losses:
2 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Malaya:
He's still beating me back down the Peninsula,i really didn't expect alot different. yes elements of 3 brigades did surrender at georgetown.........but it kept him from driving south for a day.

No naval reaction worked the way it was supposed to near Kaiving. It is still one of your bases. If one of your TF's has reaction on and is in range it will intercept.

That wasn't a reaction...i figured you were using small Tf's of "at start" jap Pc's and PG's to escort your small SNLF units on landings......so i moved Adelaide to that hex myself! No reaction involved there!
Where I screwedup reaction was with POW group.....and i did screw it up good! But thats the breaks and so she and Repulse fell to airattack......time to move on.
