Well said! But this don't mean Starshatter is bad game.
I couldn't agree more. Refer to the part about my heavy play early on - I was addicted for about a month...then all my fighters started crashing into my carrier when they tried to land. But I digress...
I guess DethDealr needs to evaluate if he is looking for great detail or great variety in a game. If it's the latter then I can't think of anything better than Starshatter. I'll just leave it at that.
P.S. Gamespot reviewed the game and basically hit the nail on the head.

Ok DL'ed demo. Looks pretty sweet so far. Definatly a joystick game from what I can tell. Only had very little time to look at it so far.
Kinda would like to know more about game still. Is the multiplayer 1 on 1 or do you have clans/guilds? What do you do on the planets? What store can this be bought at? How does the economy work in this game? Is there a main objective other then just battle?
To boil it down, Im looking for a game where I can fly around space and battle things, collect loot, and explore. I Love team/clan/guild type play where everyone works as a team for better or worse. That is I love online multiplayer games where I play REAL people and not only AI. Actualy a combination of both is very fun as E@B had. I would really like to be able to land on a planet then get out of ship and hunt things down in FPS style too like as in collecting the bounty on a player or the such.
Mabey Im asking too much here. My only problem is I dont have time to play many games and then when I find one I like I get obsessed with it LOL.
Do have to say this seems to be a very cool community here. Thats one thing I dont like about half of the games I play, lots of a-holes (excuse my french)

It is possible to create MP game with as many sides you want and distribute players to what ever sides you want. All players can be in one side and beat AI of the other side. Right now there are not enough players to make clans. It is good thing if you can find even just few people to play with.
What do you do on the planets?
Demo includes few missions on planets. It is mostly shooting other fighters and ground installations. Ground targets are limited to structures and fixed emplacements. No mobile ground units.
What store can this be bought at?
Matrix Store. You can pay atleast with credit card or something called giro. See STORE near top of the site? Click it and you get started.
How does the economy work in this game?
Fuel is restored full for every mission, so are weapons. Either don't run out in campaign (I think). But when starship takes hull damage, that damage remains for rest of the campaign. Also number of starships and fighters are limited: at beginning of the Operation Highlands everything you have is for rest of the campaign. Of course same goes for enemy. Or does Hegemony get reinforcements at some point? Can't remember...
Is there a main objective other then just battle?
There are few missions where is no action. Some of the shuttle escort and patrol missions are like that. Main objective is to win the campaigns. When I saw this last time discussed, success is tracked with scores: you need enough scores to complete campaign successfully.

Yes there are! There is even a virtual squadron :
http://www.77th-vcbg.cjb.net/ and we do get to fly around.
The problem is to get a place to fly as TC/IP MP is buggy.
We had Euroserver but there was a voltage problem and it should be up again soon, 24/7, as there are a lot less problems on dedicated servers.
Now Matty has only the demo so I understand it is hard for him to find people to fly with.
