4) Wake
Was bombed by Nells from Kwajalein that destroy on the ground most of the F4F-3 of the island.

How to simulate this:
low alt bombing raid (should work with surprise rule) and low CAP setting for the Wildcats.

If you do this, the Japanese invasion will succeed 100% of the time. Wake wasn't invaded until the 12th or so, historically. If you add more to the fray, the Wake defenders will never have the chance to repulse the initial invasion.

Oops you're right, the Wake invasion TF should be sent two sailing day away from the atoll, of course. First landing attempt on Wake was on the 10th local time, ie 9th in US (and WITP) time. Two days after PH.

Bombers bombing airfield should do little to help an invasion anyway. Bombing port is another matter.

What about raising the morale of Allied units specific to Wake? Would this not negate the possibility of the Surrender" result since the fort levels are rarely reduced? Not to much of a stretch. Perhaps increase fort levels as well. Place F4F3's on Naval Attack 100' with a 30% CAP.

Add a river between HK and Canton.

This has already been done in version 2 of my map onwards. Still waiting to see what effect it has on the game though.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! We will see what we can do with our limited resources or time. If anyone wants to volunteer to help with the scenario modification itself, please let us know.

It'd be best to just not have the Jap invasion hit on the 7th. But, since we can't do that, we'll have to figure out something else.

I agree that the Nells should hit the airfield on the 7th. But, the defenders would need some help, since it's a 50/50 repulse rate without adding in the Nells. (hitting the airfield will suppress the BF enough that the initial landing will always succeed).

Ron's idea is probably best. Put the wildcats on naval with 30% cap. And give the LCU's some more prep or forts to make up for the Nells.

End result is that the first turn should be about 50/50 to repulse the invasion. (or maybe a little better than 50/50. Those guys at Wake had their Sh1t together)

Couldn't you add to the fortification level to Wake and/or the effectiveness like was done in China? Midway is a Fort level 3 but Wake only a 1. What was so different about Wake at the time?

Should have read the entire thread before posting.[:'(]
