I agree that we should explore our options. But I also think there should be a limit. Also, as to choosing upgrade paths, a good many people on this board don't like the idea. We must decide just how "gamey" this game is going to be. I mean, since Hornet launched B-25s at Tokyo, why can't we use that option a lot? FLy off one group, go, get another, fly it off? Yes, its stupid. But my point is the argument that its possible and that we should explore our options doesn't fit in every case. We need to striike a blend with history and with possible history.

Plus, is it worth taking Mike away from bug fixes so that 3 extremely short ranged Japanese ADs can feed CLs?

agreed !

I do however like the B25 idea. If they had had the forethought to add additional slots for carrier capable aircraft it may have been possible to implement 1 squad of carrier trained B25s...with no replacements. Yes this could be abused by players but with all things it depends on who you play with. This concept is total chrome however....and Mike should NEVER be taken away from bug fixes to add any more chrome.

I actually in the first version of what would evolve into the CHS mod wanted to do that... It was a hairbrained scheme of a squadorn of only 16 B-25Bs in a carrier capable slotno replacements, etc. The downside is that they'd be returning to the CV, ready to bomb that afternoon. Nothing is perfect though. Needless to say, the idea quickly vanished as carrier capable slots got used up rather quickly.

Page 186 of the rules says "Non-PT boat surface ships may only reload torpedoes when in the hex with a size 8, 9, or 10 port with suffient supplies or in a hex with an AD ship and suffient supplies."

No where does it say that AD's only resupply DDs. No change to the program required. It goes on to say that ADs help speed the REPAIR of DDs. I didnt say anything about repairs. Do you have a need to argue for nothing?

AND, I wasnt actually thinking of Jap CLs being fed by ADs BTW. Japs have interior lines. Any base their cruisers are likely to be at will be large enough to handle torpeedos or would have one of their few ADs. I was thinking of commonwealth CLs in the DEI and northern Australia. I was thinking of an US TF based at Dutch Harbor. I was thinking of Allied TFs based around Canton Island. But as I said. According to the RULES, it already works that way.

Hi, just for clarification:
IJN can not build AD ! Only AR, AE, AV, MLE and AS are possible !

The Marblehead's story made for great news - and some great propaganda: This was commissioned by the United States - Bureau of Naval Personnel in 1942.

Hi, But I don't think you need a size 9 port to reload from. I think the AD let you reload where the ports are smaller then size 3. Their main function is they help repair DD
I think of them as the HQ for a Desron (or Desron's)

Japan used seaplane tenders as ADs. They were able to load any ordnance a DD could carry. The game just calls them AVs.

I misspoke when I said Japan can build ADs, I meant AVs as Japan used them in a dual role of seaplane tender and destroyer tender.
