First Report from Japan...

I've so far refrained from posting on this thread because I didn't want to give away my strategy. At this point it doesn't really matter anymore.

Japan's strategy so far has been to act like a flapjack ( pancake to some of you ). Keep flip-flopping around by changing my mind on what I am going to do on every single turn... [:D]

China started off ugly with lots of air unit losses to Becket's stack of AA and infantry. Then a light bulb went off in my head that said....

"If you assault his big stack of units with everything you have you could annihilate the entire Chinese army in one fell swoop."

Worked like a charm... [:D]

Wish I would have thought about it two turns earlier. [:(]

The current situation looks like this. My supply situation is not good. I like to have at least 200 supply by the time I take on the US. Not happening here anytime soon.

The good news is the fact that the US is still reeling from losing a bunch of transports to German subs...

Bad news is the Germans are low on troops and its real hard to make up for that the later it gets in the game.

Oh well, need to get back to work. I will process my turn early this evening and send it on...

There is no doubt in my mind that Japan is the hardest to play in the entire game.

Tip for those playing China: Don't plan your strategy to mimic the AI like I did. Ugh.

News from the front: Ever see Rocky II?

High Summer, 1942.

That hurt.

The gamble to drive into Germany bit us hard this turn. There's one glaring reason for why it was so bad which I will disclose later...but not now.

In any event, luckily, Barth overextended himself a bit too. He left Velikie Luki underdefended, and though it took everything I had, I took it back. Had he left even one more unit in the area, it is likely I would not have been able to take it. This allowed me to resupply and rescue the large force trapped in the Baltic States. They could have wreaked havoc in Germany for a turn, but I've learned my lesson. I moved them to my new inner defense ring.

I took back territory in the south, then settled into working on defenses.

A good production round: 6 armor units and 8 infantry rolled off the factory floors, among other units. More is on the way. I curse myself because I know what kind of force I'd have in the fall if only I'd been patient.

Fierce fighting this round. My humble militia forces took Karelia, yay! Took back Vologda and Smolensk, but then had to set about preparing a defense, which was made very difficult because I had to take care to guard against leaving territories open to armor blitzing.

Winter can't get here soon enough. I need the defense bonus badly.

The first Lend Lease shipment trickled in, and more look to be in the pipeline. This is huuuuuuuuge. I can finally divert production points to research.

TRICKLED IN?!?! i WILL HAVE GOTTEN YOU LIKE 60+ including this turn. There will be a gap next turn but Murmansk should be rolling in supply by Summer.

The US ASW carriers move out and take out 3 uboats and suface action nets a light fleet and a transport. With CV air sporting ASW 3 and my transports ASW 2, the tide in the North Atlantic has turned on a dime! WE begin the build up for D-Day - that will take several turns, but we may beat the SU 44 date by a few turns...

Hey Japan, did you know CVs are cheaper by the DOZEN. Have fun now. Your time will come [:'(]

I may have been staggered, but the birdies circling my head are leaving quickly!

The writing is on the wall in the Soviet Union, as the masses of the Hun gather on the front lines. We strike a few areas, driving the Germans back in one area, inflicting bitter losses on them in others.

Still we have to wonder if political motivations have occupied our "allies", who remain quiet as a doormouse in the Atlantic.

And let me guess, the history boks will all read about how you carried teh WA on your back through the war and suffered all the casualties while we were going around bailing your ass out

The cavalry has arrived!

THee seems to have been a change of heart in Finland about this "Reich" thing. They have welcomed a massive force to their shores! The German forces in Leningrad and Karelia now have "other concerns" than advancing into Russia...[X(][:'(][8D]

We also have nearly swept the ubat meanace from the Atlantic and are poised to resume LL shipments next turn.

The Japanese take the Soviet far east this turn. We had stripped it to prop up western defenses last turn.

In the good news department, I finally got my infantry evasion researched to 6. (I'm sure Barth is at 7 now). I built too much supply early in the game at the cost of researching infantry evasion. Huge error. My infantry have been getting killed the entire game - exchange rates of 3 or 4 to 1 v. German infantry.

All forces pulled back to guard the center.

Soviets, Fall 1943

Our dearly beloved western allies' invasion of Finland has had a profound effect on the course of the war. The German has withdrawn his heavy bombers from the front.

Seizing on this opportunity, we employ our limited supplies to cut of his armies marauding in Central Russia. German units in 3-4 territories are now stranded with no hope of succor, at least until next spring.

We were in position to hammer away and take back territory, but without supply, our offensive stalled.

The Japanese are advancing to the rear, but we have a plan for them.

(Note: China has been largely taken out of this game, but I did hit them [EDIT: "them" means the Japanese] this turn and cause 2 infantry casualties. Yay, China!)

Well, If my attack on Denmark would have worked [:@] - Only I can fail to dislodge the Italians from East Africa and lose a 7 to 2 unit invasion...

I lost 5 panzers attacking France teh other noght...If only rolling low was good in this game I'd be unbeatbale [:'(] (My 'personal best' record for ASL snake-eyes on a single turn - 5!!!! - still unbeaten to my knolwedge!!)

Supply is tight for the WA this turn...I will do the best I can...

Oops! Got distracted and didn't update.

Thanks to the diversion in the West, the Soviets stormed out, retaking Leningrad, Kharkov, and a number of other provinces. We put some of the trapped "Army Group Siberia" out of it's misery, too.

Also sent a force east to smack around the crappy militia sitting in our provinces.

I built a TON of supplies so LEad Lease should be back to you next turn...If I get knocked of denmark that will be all there is to do for while, until I buld a new army!

Soviets, Spring 44.

The remnants of Army Group Siberia were utterly destroyed this turn. We also took back the Baltic States and East Poland. Supplies were low, so there wasn't much we could do this turn to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the momentous events in the west.

Also sent a force east to shore up the defenses against the Japanese.

Could you send me the turn again, I don't think I got it, or accidently deleted it...
