So about 30 game-days is not enough for folks to figure out what ships to withdraw or not and how?? [:D] [:'(] Doesn't anyone use "I"-key ?? [:D]
Allies rarely run out of PPs anyway in stock scenarios. Those are not to be hoarded, but to be expended !! Only time I've seen "lack" of PPs for Allies is Dec41/Jan42 and Spring 1944 (I wonder why the Brits want all those BBs to transfer to Europe then??). [:'(]
Having 10 000 PPs in store in 1945 is not exactly wise if the exchange is the loss of most of RN fighting power. Never withdraw RN CV if you can afford it !! That's my motto ! [:)]

Cheers,

Personally, I think the whole British withdrawl works pretty effortlessly. The message shows up on the intel screen. Right in front. You don't even have to drill down to see it, like with reinforcements. For 30 days, it's there. Telling you that you need to withdraw.

So, at some point you move 3 ships to karachi. and you with draw them. If you haven't withdrawn them, the intel screen still tells you about it.

What more do you want? I think a pop-up screen on the 31st isn't a great idea. If you haven't sent the ships to karachi, then it's too late anyway. Pop-ups throughout the month would drive me nuts. It tells you on the 1st. You have 30 days to deal with it. No big deal and really not much micromanagement, except finding two BRITISH DD's. That can be tiresome sometimes.

Those are only 600 PP...[:)]. One usually accumulates 1500 PP per month, so I rarely bother to seek much. Only when I have ships arriving same month to Karachi that are crap in AA sense, back they go !! [:)]

Nah, have the window popup with a list of all the eligible ships and requirements with checkboxes. You check the ones you wish to withdraw, and click "okay". A warning comes up if you still haven't met the withdrawl requirements (complete with a do not show this warning again toggle) and poof you're done.

Egads! You want a windowed interface???

Ok, so how many of you really want to pony up $200 for WitP II?

I would. But not if the only thing changed is the British Withdrawl process.

I haven't bought any games since WITP. I think the $70 I paid for WITP actually saved me several hundred in what I'd have spend on other games. At some point, I will buy GGWAW, though. It's nice to play something without too much detail. I'll buy WITP 2 if it happens.

I think you might be shocked at how many people would pay $200+ for WITP II with a good AI and more user friendly interface!

When my son (1590 SAT's and all that gos with that and loves puzzles, complicated games, programing, war games, etc.)looks at a game and says it's too complicated well the interface should be changed a bit. [;)]

But then it would be a COSTLY risk to take and ROI even in best case might not be worth the risk.

Hi, I really don't think WITP is all that complicated. It is just...well big. Everything is simple to do but there is a lot to do. That is why I could never play WITP without first coming up with a plan and then setting up the plan with a long to enter turn 1 followed by quick following turns with long turns at junctures in the execution of the plan. Since I follow a system the game is easy and the turns never require more then an hour after turn 1. (Sometimes I let thing go and then need to take a longer time to catch back up)
But the game is really quite simple. You need units to fight or build with. And supply for them to function. The rest is just moving stuff about.

True, but it's not presented in an organized manner plus it has a steep learning curve. Those two things combined result in "overload" for many who would enjoy the game if it was more organized and simpler to learn.

Look at things like land combat, changing leaders, ship refits, actual ship job (not everyone was in the navy or WWII), prep points, etc.

On the organized front it can be hard to picture where to move supplies/troops/ships to or through if you don't know the map well. More visual feed back with a compressed map view might just help that making it easier for this with poor visulation ability.

Also note, using the break it down logic, one could say computers are not hard to program you only have to know 1's and 0's. [:D]

BTW: Enjoy your comments about the game (in other threads) as they have been quite helpful in learning it.

I'd agree in principal, but too often the game shows the to better micromanager go the spoils. Want effective subs? Well, then you'd better move them each, each turn, without falling into an obvious pattern. Want to maximize your defense of the Admiralty Is (or any where really)? Then calculate how supply you'll need to build x number of level y forts + z air fields, etc. I won't even get started on assigning leaders and "training" regimes (i.e. Chinese Water Torture). Sure no single event will win you the war, they'll make all the difference if one player is willing to put in substanially longer.
