Hi, You don't have to finish a game in one session. In TCP/IP all players enter orders at same time. So it does not take any longer online then it does solo or PBEM.
You do have to find players that have the same schedule for play where in PBEM one player can do turn at midnight and another at 3am.
That's my point. Getting people together is the impossible part.
But if you can find players who can all be online for 2 hours every monday then TCP/IP will be much more fun then PBEM.
I think that for people with demanding jobs as well as children, the idea of regularly being online for two hours at the same time the same day of each week is outright fantasy. And as soon as you try to coordinate 3+ players? Forget it.

But yes, I agree that if it were somehow possible, TCP/IP would be preferable to PBEM. I just can't see it ever happening.

I guess I must be a fantasy... [:D]

I am totally for TCP/IP over PBEM. I'm in one PBEM now and just scratching at the bit to make my move...which might not come for another day or two...then, one person is taking a 3 day break...its just too much....I want to play NOW.

One or two days a week for a few hours, even with wife and kids, is really nothing. It just needs to be scheduled...if you like it that much, you make the time.

I am older but with no wife or kids so I have the time but I have a buddy with two kids who I play Raven Shield with for 2-3 hours a few days a week...he loves it, he finds the time..

Fair enough. Your work schedule must be more predictable then.

Indeed... plus some folks usually have some kind of 'weekend' whether thats a traditional saturday-sunday or something during the standard work week.
