Actually, after having played with it some more, I'm beginning to like the cavalry the way it is. I made this whole stupid spiel in one of my first posts on how I think it should be changed. I take it all back. :)

I would never characterize the cavalry as too weak. The one exception is perhaps attacking supply and artillery but perhaps that is just a game balance issue. I've payed more attention and have seen how flanking truly makes all the difference when attacking a foe in good order. Heck, even if disordered, I move around to the flank if possible. Anyway, I'm starting to be a convert to the fact that the way it is, is largely for the best.

I've been able to develop some quasi-historical uses for Cavalry now using them too screen my forces until I can get them set up. After I get my battleline setup, I then send my cav to my rear and flanks to protect it, except sometimes for an odd irregular or light Cav unit which I might send out to their rear just to harass them. Maybe I'm making it harder for myself than I have to be but its sure fun to see a plan take shape. :)

Now, if only the computer AI was a bit smarter... Nah, leave it alone, i like my kill ratio. :D
