Very simply put, it's what the market will bear. Just because you think it should be $49, doesn't mean that they should charge $49.

If you walked into a pub and said, "$5 for a pint! That's highway robbery! You're nutts charging that much!" What do you suppose the barkeep would say? Probably something along the lines of, "Well, that's what it costs. Take it or leave it. I sell plenty of pints at $5. If you don't like it, go down the street to the college hang-out. I hear it's sink-or-swim night there..."

As you say, show some maturity. If you don't like the price of the beer, go someplace else. You don't stand at the door, and whine to everyone coming in, that you think think the price is too much.

But rather than comparing WiTP to games like Farcray and Half-life 2, can you compare it to other Matrix titles...especially in terms of value? Again...why is CoG $49.99 and WiTP $69.99/79.99?

I cant tell you how it compares to OTHER matrix titles, dont have any. (got myself a copy of 12 o clock high: bombing the reich yesterday, but haven't played it, to bussy with DUNGEON SIEGE 2 at the moment [:D])

The number of people who will buy this 'very niche' game is pretty small. The cost to develop this massive game is pretty high. You do the math. Matrix is not making profit on WITP. Even at $70 a copy.

I would have paid 3x the asking price without even thinking about it.

Actually, Danish beer (at least the big brands that get exported overseas) isn't very good. It has a bitter aftertaste which disagrees with you.

For drinking outside of the alehouse environment, I like Urquell and Heineken.

I recall trying some a long time ago....yep, similar experience. I'll incur the wrath of Mogami for saying this but i've never liked Urquell either. Heineken is ok. and BTW bub....Guiness IS a beer.

For a very loose definition of beer, maybe. I tried it once at an Irish pub in Denmark's second largest city. Had to buy two large draughts of proper beer just to wash the taste out of my mouth...

8% isn't bad. How 'bout taste? I'm not well versed on the Danish varieties.....recommend any brands to try? I love my English/Irish beers and Warsteiner is king of my summer beer selections but always interested in branching out.

At my place (and Warstein is just 60-70 klicks away) we don't consider it drinkable[:-]

Guiness isn't beer. It's the the sludge you get from mixing the goo at the bottom of the cask with the tar that holds the slats together.

I even prefer dark beer. But you need a knife and fork to eat Guiness.

I agree. I can pee in a glass and drink it for free after all. Why pay $1.50 to do the same?

What do you expect from this forum when you come in and act like a child? As for the thread hi-jacking, the post needs to be intelligently presented to get some response. Before you judge , perhaps you should have thought about what you were going to post about a game you obviously do not comprehend. Besides, $69 is not alot of money.

Guinness is a beer as is Warsteiner as is Stella as is Kronenbourg

P.S. for the serious reply poster. I justify the price as such:

$70 is nothing compared to the amount of time I have played and will play this game for many many years to come. You say not to compare it to other non-matrix games ok I won't i'll compare it to UV, BiN, HttR (these are also good enjoyable games). I will play WiTP maybe 20-40 times as much as these other titles. What is $70 for a game that will never be made again to this scale and detail. Divide the cost by every year of your life you can play this game. Fair deal i'd say.

When you buy this game, you will actually KEEP on playing it for the rest of the year. I bought it in august last year, and spend A LOT of time playing it, and it KEEPS interesting .I have bought games like FARCRY, HALF LIFE 2 etz. You spend 4 days playing it, finish the game, play it a second time, finish the game in three days, and never play the game again. This game may cost a bit more than "standard" games, but you will enjoy it FAR, FAR longer. After 6 months of playing the AI might not be enough challenge anymore, and then you can go PBEM. Play this game PBEM and you will get a VERY exiting ride....

This game is worth every penny….

I can't compare WITP with other Matrix games but I do have this to say about the game. I bought WITP back in September 2004. It's gone through some upgrades since then (I bought at version 1.21 and it's up to 1.6 now).

I stopped upgrading at 1.3 because I had some problems with some changes but the great thing about this game which overweighs any problems I may have had is the fact there is a scenario editor. If you have some problems like I did, you can simply create a scenario which you think is more even (or uneven depending on how you want to be).

So in effect, you're not paying for just one WITP game; you're paying for basically an unlimited number of games. Not one game will be the same no matter how many times you play it.

Also, there simply aren't that many Pacific War games out there. I have 5: Pacific War (the predecessor of this game), War in the Pacific and the board games Midway (from Avalon Hill), Pacific War: The Struggle Against Japan 1941-1945 (by Victory Games) and War in the Pacific: The Campaign Against Imperial Japan, 1941-45 (by SPI).

The War in the Pacific game I remember paying $50 for it back in spring of 1980 before I went into the Navy. I don't know what inflation would make that $50 25 years later but I can bet you it is more than what I paid for WITP.

Hang in there, T. - first one tastes like watered down coal. It gets better from there on...

So this game cost me $70 last summer. I haven't spent a dime on games since then; can't see the need to change that any time soon. Got my money's worth and then some.

wow. Are they at least strong beers? My GF's dad is an international airline pilot. He brought back some good strong German beer and I was able to snag a couple on Sat. 11% alcohol......WHEE!!!! good tasting too. Dont remember the brand though....it was only printed on the small bottle cap.

That's like a Belgium Beer...I forget the name atm though, it was made by monks. Ah, it was Chimay. I remember liking Red quite a bit, anyhow it has ~11-13% alcohol level.

What, nobody mentioned Hoegaarden Witbier and Kilkenny yet?
Yes they are a bit on the bland side, but all the better - you can have more of them! Excellent aroma, goes great in summer heats and with grilled meat. (I also love them with fish, something that people here in Mediterranean frown upon)
