Iron Duke and KG Erwin already picked a couple of my favs:
Anthony Hopkins in ABTF
Tom Hanks in SPR
Steve McQueen in The Sand Pebbles
I would also ad:
R. Lee Ermey as the Drill in Full Metal Jacket; and
Clint Eastwood in Outlaw Josey Wales (in the movie he plays a bushwacker who fought with Bloody Bill Anderson).

Garry Sinease in Truman
1. Jeff Daniels Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, and the Crossing. Also, the Guy who played Hanncock.
2. Richard Burton in Longest Day (one of the best scenes in all of film) When he met Fabian and had the morphene injection. "I'm injured, your lost, and he's dead...."(classic)

Sam Elliot: Gettysburg, We Were Soldiers.
Jeff Daniels: Gettysburg
Richard Jordan: Gettysburg (In fact almost anyone in Gettysburg except perhaps Martin Sheen)
Tom Berenger: Gettysburg, Platoon.
Willem Dafoe (I liked him in Flight of the Intruder, Good death scene BTW)

Truthfully, Henry was one of my favourite actors of all time, loved him in Jesse James, The Grapes of Wrath, The Sergeant,etc, but the time he spent on the studio prevented him from being with his kids, and this has been to the detriment of an entire nation, IMO...

I guess I'm being to critical of Henry because of that subspecies offspring of a daughter.
I did and still do enjoy his movies.
Lets face it even Ted Turner got smart and trashed her.
