I also recall that the Geneva Protocols called for the use of blade bayonets; better not tell the Russians or the Brits. Doh!

On the fart front, I can tell you all from personal experience that poisonous gases are an integral part of the WWII reenacting battlefield. Our group once did a reenactment near Shreveport, LA after we had stopped for some red beans and sausage at this place in Baton Rouge. Let's just say that the chemical/biological warfare that ensued was more of a problem for us than than the enemy. We had one guy rip off a loud one (a "barrage" we called it) just as we were trying to lay an ambush. I don't know if it was the flatulence or the ensuing giggle fit, but needless to say, the GI's didn't fall into our little trap. So, rules are one thing, reality is another.
