"Bang goes that idea" eg a Silly suggestion or an incorrect idea sort of thing.
Ferece Puskus 'the Galloping Major' famous Hungarian footballer led the hungarian team that slaughtered England " with Puskas as captain, beat England 6-3 in 1953 - becoming the first foreign team ever to win at Wembley. The return match in Budapest provided even greater humiliation for England with Hungary winning 7-1."
