the verison of the game I got is the limit edition

it also came with a DVD on the BoB

which it looks like it was made by GMX for Shockwave, but it got some very good film clips in it !

it even had some shots of Stukas bombing some French tanks, 1 was a soild hit, that blew the tank apart, another shows two French tanks moving together, the Bomb drop picks up one and flips it onto its back and starts the other one fire

the game may be worth getting just for the DVD

EAW was the last Flight Sim I played.

The last one I enjoyed was "Air Warrior III". I even went on-line to play that once or twice.

Try IL2. With the add-ons it is fun. At present I am flying a Hurri IIC in Malaya (12x .303mg, great for the Zeros and Oscars, but really hopeless on Bettys). Then I am a Finn Gladiator pilot (very tricky to hit anything), a P40E KittyHawk in the desert in 1942 (fun, nailed a 109F the other day, 15 deg deflection roughly, 2 sec burst, much to my surprise target flamed - my deflection shooting isn't that good!). Also just starting a Corsair IV camapign over southern Japan 1945

For light relief flew a Me 163 against a big B17 box as a one off. Opened fire at 1000m, and hit with 3rd shell (the Ge 30mm fires so slowly you can count the shells). The wing fell off the target! Went round again, and flamed number 2. Tried for a third, but P51 got intersteed. Dived out, and ran out of fuel attempting to reengage. Blew up on landing! Typical Me163 mission I think!

do you have TLD's ? that and BOE are great add on's (patch for TLDs is finished, but we waiting on X-1 to release it)

I've got IL2FB, AEP, and PF. I haven't got any of the others becasue I only recently got AEP, and am playing with DCG - lots of fun, but too time consuming to pick up any more missions yet.

I have been lurking on your stories for a while now. You seem to be a better shot than I am![&o] Mind you, I neatly amputated the wing of a Zero the other day - 1 sec burst from P40 at the left wing root, at 350m (he was pulling away) - zeros don't fly well with one wing.


The thing I like about IL2 is the damage modelling - the skins for a plane danaged by mg fire are different to those hit by explosive, and I have no doubt the damage effects are also different - certainly, my Hurri IIc can empty an entire ammo load at a Betty with little effect if you don't get close and aim for somewhere vital (tail good, engine ok, fuselage bad). I was so frustrated once, I then did a QB with a Hurri IID (20mm cannon)- what a difference! Flaming Betty after quite short bursts to almost anywhere.[8D]

Still, better get back to the topic for the forum [checks thread title] - oh, thats OK, I am still a little OT![:D]

the damage model can be really neat, it just makes you wonder at times though, you catch a Yak with a good soild burst, and then stop to look at it, and not even a tiny hole anywhere on it, so you are not sure if it is just the artwork not showing the damage or if the plane is not taking damage

I just hate how you can take one round to the tail unit and your stuck with a uncontrolable plane, but you can all but chop off the AI tail unit and it just keeps on going (it is getting better)

if you get a chance, try out the demo for Wow (wings over water) you want to hit Betties, you should try it with a F4u
