For you guys who play solo, I'm anxious for some feedback on the enhanced OOB Editor. First -- make a backup copy of all original 8.3 OOBs to a separate folder. This is necessary to avoid anomalies in designed scenarios/campaigns. Then, run ALL of the options for each of the 8.3 OOBs, and then play a generated solo battle/campaign.
Sorry not with you there
My oob editor looks exactly the same. I can't see any button for programmer conventions and i don't know how to run all of the options for each of the oobs.
Is there a way to edit these low morale ratings ?
Is it the actual Spwaw editor program that has been changed or are these options actually in the game. A'm I missing something obvious here
Soldier,
You should see (in the OOB editor 5.0) a button called 'batch options'. Select it, and there will be several options available. These are the new features. You select one or more, and apply it accross the board when asked. It only affects the OOB for the nation you selected to edit, and you should back-up the original.
Mike did not add the option of setting the ratings for each nations troops differently in this patch, but did state that it is being looked into.

Heres the problem, I should see it but I don't. Whereabouts in the oob editor is this button ? I only see "file" at the top which leads to edit, save, change etc all the same options as before. I have noticed changes in game play so some of the patch must have installed properly but can't yet find any additional options or menus

If you have the newest version of the editor, the Batch button is next to the File button that you mention. If it isn't there, then you don't have the 5.0 OOB Editor.

Silly question time:
I'm in the middle of a scenario in a long campaign so do I need to wait for the scenario's end to install it, start a new campaign, or can I just plug it in and go?

Under the "about" file it says
world at war: 1930-1949 editor vs 4.3
Sorry for all the dumb questions but where do you get the latest editor ? . I have downloaded the full version of 8.2 and just assumed that it was included with it

No, it isn't in 8.2. OOB Editor version 5.0 is part of the 8.403 patch.
Keep in mind that if you're starting with 8.2, patches 8.3 and 8.4 also need to be successively applied.

Whoa, Gunny. Over on the Depot you wrote:

I was under the impression that I did not have to install the 8.4 patch and it's OOBs to run 8.403. Do I have to install 8.4 or no? Can I go straight from 8.3 to 8.403?
I'd rather bypass 8.4 if at all possible.
Thanks.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm recommending applying all patches in succession. The 8.403 mech.exe overwrites the 8.4 version. So, you go from the full 8.2, and then the 8.3 patch, the 8.4 patch, and finally the 8.403 patch. No harm is done by doing it this way. I keep a copy of the full 8.2 on a separate CD in case of a catastrophic crash (God forbid!).

I'm with soldier on this one. I downloaded the patch twice (1.43MB) and applied it twice. The game menu says 8.403 and the scrolling problem was fixed for me, but I still have the 4.3 editor although the 5.0 Word Doc is in the folder.

The new Editor does NOT overwrite the old one. It has a NEW icon, and it should be in your main SPWaW folder.

The only executables in my main folder are:
Autorun
Mech
Modswap
Modswapdoc
SPWAW_Editor (this runs as the old 4.3)
STARTUPV

I unzipped the patch file to a "junk" folder and here are the contents:
Mech.exe
SPWAW 8.403 patch.doc
SPWAW OOB Editor vs 5.0 Notes.doc
SPWAW OOB Notes.doc

Folks, just to clear up a few things about all these recent patches:
1. 8.3 was the last upgrade that included OOBs.
2. 8.4 was Mike's first update to the Mech.exe and SPWAW Editor files. The OOB Editor had the LBM data field bug fixed.
3. 8.403 is the latest version of Mike's upgrades to the Mech.exe and SPWAW Editor files. The editor was not included in the patch, unfortunately.
No OOBs were harmed in the making of these patches.

Perhaps one more dumb question....
I've been away from SPWaW for a while (at least on the home machine) and just upgraded with the 8.403 patch. Unfortunately, I just saw in the notes that a 8.402 patch was also released.
My question: Did I screw up by not patching with 8.402 first?

I thin it just replaces the mech.exe. So the 8.402 fixes/changes would be included already.

Problem: I'm taking single battles with Finns against Soviet AI and the Finns get so few default points that they don't even have the A0 HQ unit than 1/2 or 2/3 times. [&:] Have to always set the points from the Prefs.
