I'm also wondering in which version was this "bug" fixed. I'v checked the comprehensive list of changes made to this game so far, and couldn't find it.

If people want to call it gamey, that's a different matter, but IMHO there is to much arbitraryness in use of that term. Trying to imagine the US sneaking a couple dozen of ACs to India via northen route is "gamey", but training your bomber crews to be seasoned veterans by droping sacks of flour on a spot marked X is OK (not that i don't use this). I can understand insisting upon historical accuracy of weapon systems, but historical accuracy of strategic decisions in a strategy game [&:]

Back to the topic, if your version of WitP allows allied planes to be moved out of Russian bases (which should be easy to test), then you can move any AC with 7+ ext. range via northen route. Depending on the range, you might have to use the base at the tip of Kamchatka (Petropavlavsk) en route.

I have a similar problem in an AI game where the bulk of 100 squadron has transferred to a remnant that teleported from Akyab to SF. It is now absorbing fresh pilots (up to 24!) while the original 100 squadron is in Akyab with no planes or pilots.

I have read that US land Units can be sent to Karachi from SF somehow. Can air units be sent the same way and if so, how is this done, please?

The '60 day' transfer from SF to Karachi only works with land units, not aircraft.

Thanks very much.

How do you do it with Land units?

I haven't done it myself, so I may have a detail or two wrong. Find the HQ unit they are assigned to (West Coast Command most likely) and change its assignment to SEAC (or wherever it is you want to send them). From what others have reported, the HQ unit will disappear and reappear 60 days later in the new theatre and all reinforcements that are assigned to it will now appear in the new theatre.

Select a LCU that is in a base on the WestCoast.
Spend PPs to change it's HQ to SouthEastAsia.
The next turn it will disappear and show up in the Reinforcement Schedule to arrive in Karachi in 60 days.
You can do the same for China by changing a LCU to ChineseCommand and it will arrive at Chungking(?).

Just a little clarification... There are two features here, the second one beeing eather "gamey" or a "bug":

1. If you reassign any onmap LCU on West Coast/Canada/Alaska (i tested it up to Duch Harbour) to SEAC, it will dissapear from the map on the next turn, and will be scheduled to arrive in Karachi in 60 days. In v1.40, this also works in PH, but that could be a "bug", too.

2. Reassigning to SEAC any regional HQ unit (anywhere on the map) whose reinforcements arrive in SF, will redirect those reinforcements to arrive in Karachi.

Considering numerous changes in game versions, i would suggest testing...

I didn't try this with China Command, but i suspect it will also go to Karachi.

I wonder what version that was.

I think you can still transfer between soviet bases.
I just transfered a USSAF group from AttuIs to Khabroski(?) Soviet AF base.
And the transfer button was still active on next turn. Transferred them close to India, Ulan Bator AF base, I think.

However, no missions (apart from Training and Stand down) can be performed from a Soviet base until Soviet activation.

It was a bug ... they should have the transfer option greyed out once they land at a russian base.

Isn't that strange??? They are training while being interned [8D]
