I agree with Wodin. I'm only interested in the PC version. I don't have time to play against anyone. If I get a few minutes to play a game its usaully to play a few turns against a AI a then back to work or my family. This is one of the reasons I love to play the HPS Squad Battles games but this game ported to the PC with a AI could be the game of the year! I have been waiting for a Squad Leader type game with really awesome counters/graphics for along time. This could be it!

Said it better than myself.

Yes a PC version would be good but you should check out VASSAL and perhaps watch a few turns, there are not a lot of rules and i think you will have to read some rules even for the PC game

I dont know what the AI will be like but a PBEM game may take some time to complete one turn,I still cant really picture it.I dont want the machine to take my OPP fire for me,so this could mean quiet a few turns exchanged by players,or you could play live like HTTR or with VASSAL,thats if it stays true to the boardgame

anyway just thought i would offer you guys a way to get onto this great game while you wait for the PC game, its lucky that all three lock and load games are supported by VASSAL,a lot of game companies dont give their permission

Yes I have tried VASSAL before but prefer to just do a quick boot up of a game and get right into it.

I hope Mark or someone that's working on Lock N' Load can give us all a quick update to see if the game will be ready for release soon?

I'm sure the PC Game will sell really well! I hope I don't sound to much like a sales guy but I am...

I don't usally respond to forum's but I cant wait to get this game on my hard drive!!

Thanks for the report Mark!

"Soon" would be releasing the game around summer time maybe? I'm sure we could find you allot of Beta testers to help you out:)

Cheers,
Punisher

I doubt it will be out this summer. It isn't an exact science. Yeah, I'm sure plenty of folks would sign up for beta. They always do. :-) We have enough for now. Thanks.

No problem Mark I will just keep my eye on this forum for your next update. Untill then the next best thing to playing ASL is playing the PC game by HPS called Squad Battles 6: Advance of the Reich. Never get tired of this game.

Cheers!

$million games and be able to retire to Hawaii $million games and be able to retire to Hawaii

First off, I don't want to move to Hawaii. [:)] Virginia is just fine with me. You can't go to Lane Stadium if you move to Hawaii. Second off, even a tremendously sucessfull TB wargame will be lucky to sell 10,000 units. Third off, CLnL will be/is a great game, but I'd rather not talk in better than terms. There's room in the world for people to play both SB and CLnL. My game will have some what we hope are unique (most of which I can't discuss yet) features for a TB wargame. There are two campaigns (Soviet, German), each campaign branches, eqach tells a story, introduces characters and follows their lives through the battles. We have a unique (at least for wargaming) methos of telling the character's story, and as you move later into the campaign, wins, losses and troop conservation plays a big part. You'll be given core units for each mission, and then a number of points that may be used to purchase additional units.

The look is all LnL, but with a twist. For example, we've done away with turret counters for CLnL, there are actually rotating turrets on the tanks. Also we have seriously reduced the number of admin counters. For example, there are no Fire or Mover counters. After a unit fires it is marked with a Fire icon (looks like a miniature Fire marker right now).

Here's a shot from the early beta. A word... yep those are BoH Germans. This game will have new ones, but we are in beta. And yes, this is a game in progress, on my desktop, not a doctored screenie.

Wow Outstanding screen shot Mark! [&o] I can't wait to see more! Looks like the beta version is moving along very well. The rotating turrets sounds like a really nice visual feature. Since you have a characther story to follow will you be able to name your character and follow his story line or is it a fixed counter name?

Thank You for giving us a taste of what we can expect to see in coming months!

I'm glad you liked the screen. I'll post more, including one from the Kalach River crossing, soon. The characters are named.

Johannes Wurtz: German Sergeant (at first)
Michael Brennand: German tank commander
Elena Petrova: Soviet partisan
Andropovich: Soviet Lieutenant

So I can have a "Les the Sarge" leader counter???!! :))) I'm really hoping this is so mod friendly that I can import all my Squad Leader scenarios and counters into it. ;)))
