try it out for yourself. the screenshots dont do it justice. kind of dulls it out....
actually I did try it out and thats where my comment came from. unfortunately I was only able to find the version with all the malaria and weather zone markings on it.
I get your point AB about it being too bright, but even subchasers (which I just tried) is a bit brighter. nice work on all your maps BTW. I much prefer your map over the stock one, not because of the distances and such, but because of the look itself being a bit "sharper".

The problem is that I have just downloaded it and have not had time to look at the docs. Sorry, I will do better in the future. [:D]
Don't worry. I don't really expect people to actually read the documentation.

Anrew, I just installed the map. You keep surpassing yourself. Thanks again...
one little question: will there be a version without the region boundary lines? It's not a big deal, but I always preferred that one ( I think that it was version 4 in your huge list ). I certainly understand any desire not to keep making such a plethora of map versions, so I'll be happy with what ever you choice is...

Obviously I am plain stupid because I cannot find the new map.
I searched at Spooky´s, has version 4
I searched at Andrews site, has version 4.03.
Could someone please give a link to the downloadsite?
Thanks

I did read the docs, but I still have a question. If in a PBEM only one player updates the map will there be problems?

Thank's for the map and mod!

There are transportation net (trail/road/rail) changes in China between the map and earlier verions.
Here is a list of the changes:
[ol]
[*]The map has been redrawn in a new style, with softer boundaries between the land and sea, and between shallow and deep water.
[*]Okayama base in Japan now remains at Okayama (62,41), with Maizuru being merged with Kyoto (63,41). This base - Maizuru/Kyoto - is now a major port. This base revision also means that the Japanese coastline in the area has been "remodelled": Oyama now adjoins the Inland Sea.
[*]Ichang (47,34) is now connected by trail to Changsha (45,37) - it was not able to be supplied when owned by the Allied side in previous map versions.
[*]A trail now connects Hankow (48,35) and Anking (49,37).
[*]The Yangtse River in China is now navigable as far as Nanking (51,37). In addition, the road joining Soochow (52,38) with the hex to the Northeast (52,37) has been removed, as there were no bridges across the Yangste River below Nanking.
[*]The trail between Port Moresby and Lae has been removed.
[*]The trails near Lae have been modified to allow for the addition of Wau (55,90).
[*]Several base names have been changed on the map. See scenario notes for details.
[*]The malaria zone borders have been modified to match the modifications made to the zone in patch 1.7+.
[*]Hex 135,39 on the Olympic Peninsula, West of Seattle, has been made a mountain hex.
[/ol]
As mentioned, base changes do NOT occur for existing games. Terrain changes DO affect existing games.
I am still working on the scenario updates but making progress...

Are you SURE you read the docs, especially Q7 of the FAQ? [:)] To provide a clearer answer: Yes, there will be problems. Both players should use the same map at all times. The problems if one player has a version 4 map and one has a verison 5 map will not be huge, but they may still occur.

That's pretty much it, Andrew, except that the example you show here has no bases as well...
Rogue's site only seems to have one version available (except for the choice of extended or standard map). It's possible that since I'm using W98SE and having to manually install that I missed something, but I don't see any extraneous files hanging around.

That is only because it is a direct snapshot of the graphic file, not an in-game screenshot.

I only ask Spooky, rogue et al to host the main files, not the alternative maps. I host the alternatives on my own website. As soon as I have finished the scenario conversions I will be updating my web pages. In the meantime, here is a direct link to the map version you are interested in:
Andrews_WitP_Map_v5_Alt_H4.zip (standard map)
Andrews_WitP_Map_v5_Alt_H4X.zip (extended map)

Thanks, Andrew, my game is complete again. You'd be surprised at just how much your map influences my enjoyment of WITP...
Just noticed the improvement in the jump map... it is so much easier now to locate the smaller islands on this one. Kudos...
