Here's an example of what I'm talking about - I'm glad Pz Command will have a nice overhead view; would be even better if unit types were made obvious, even just general ones (ie ordnance, AFV, softskin, infantry).

On my list of eye-candy, having full squad representation ranks right below having the correct skin on swamp alligators, and yes, I am aware that there are none of the latter in this game.

All the best

As another option to squad representation, I would be happy with just a togglable base number that would show close to each soldier representation. So when click on that unit, a number pops up right under it that shows how many combat effectives it has.

It just seems to me that 1:1 visual representation is overload and does not really get the player anything. If it was a 'section-level' game where the largeset unit was 4-5 guys and the total force size was perhaps 2 platoons on a side, then 1:1 would be the way to go. But for a game dealing with companies, its just uneeded visual information that actually would slow the play down.

On a related topic; will there be half squads? It seems that there will be no 'half-squads' but just 'squads' with any number of men in them.

What I would want to know is are squads deployable? Are infantry units 'set' during the game?

I like the idea of military symbols at bird's eye view levels. Even having the game show platoon symbols to make things even more 'fuzzy'. A sort of shift up in unit size with a shift up in view.

On another note: I would suggest that some units have a question mark for number of combat effectives. This represents a unit that is greatly disorganized and out of command and control. The idea of Fog of war hampering one's own intel about one's own units is not within CM or most games.

So the half squad that a player prances up the side of the playing field, that is out of LOS and communications control gets zapped. Not only do you not know what zapped it (relative spotting takes care of that) but you do not know how many guys are still in the game or even what state the unit is in.

showing them as 3 men does not bother me. I will continue to use my imagination, as I have done for all other wargames.

What would it look like to have more than 3 men? I did a mock up. The issue of the unit's "footprint" comes up pretty quickly above 6 shown men. If there were to be more men, it visually looks nice to have some different, so I took the liberty of changing some of the uniforms.

I personally would like something as seen here...

Benpark thas it, thas what I want also. The mixture of color is great also. They should hire you and fire Marc hehe. ;) Six would work if they could do that stuff, though 9 or 12 would be better. But, you got the mixture I wanted to see, SMG and Riflemen together in one squad makes sense. I can hardly believe this is scheduled for an April release. It's so close can hardly wait. Oh wait, I have to wait for bargain bin prices, but, wait, Matrixgames doesn't have any bargain bin prices, sooooooo, I can get this one after release after I read a few of you guys posts on the AI. ;)

It is not that we don't want it [;)] You know, not everything I actually suggest or envision in development conferences gets in the game. You can of course have random textures galore if you want. But somebody has to code it in and then there is still the performance barrier.

You don't want to know what random texture features I also suggested [;)]

If there are 100 guys in 20 different coloured uniforms, wouldn't that make it hard to tell friend from foe....?

Oh, that darn reality, it messes with you when you least expect it.

What if they all had white uniforms....... aaaaggggghhhhh!

nah the base of the unit could tell the difference between the two sides. I always had the bases turned on in CM and of course CM had that 5x the size of the unit feature as well to make them large, so, it was prtty easy to tell the difference. Bring on RANDOM textures and at least 6 men squads with one being SMG guy. ;) And dang it someone figure out how to do "hand to hand" melee, I wanna see guys going at it with knives, biting, throwing helmets, throwing empty weapons. lol And BLOOD, need lotsa blood when each soldier dies. ;)

Are only your suggestions ignored or it's the general trend on them "development conferences"?

If it's only you perhaps you need to improve your English:

You are bringing down the ire of the graphics mavens with wild talk like that....I always play with bases too, but with bases on, you can hover up high and not really see the uniforms or details anyway, so in either case, didn't really matter if they were all dressed the same. [;)]

In strategy mode I hover up, but, when watching the replays I get down to level 1 or 2 and watch the action up close, so, I can see all the detail then. ;)

It's more a problem with the programmers, then an "ignorance" matter [;)][:'(]

I better dug in now .....
