view from rear facing toward front of gun line. circular portion of green grass is the foundation for one of the 12in disapearing guns The tiered spaces to either side contain the shell hoists from the bottom floor where the magazines are located. Just off the right side of the photo was the fire control/observation platform where fall of shot could be observed.

The forest growth from the position of the observation post. As you can see much time has passed since it was last used, the view of the sound is completely blocked.

Towards the right-rear side of each mortar pit sits a small fire control shack. Here is a wood/metal protrusion in which wooden slots with pre-determined coordinates were slid out from the shack for the mortar crews to take their ques from. (talk about pre-digital age)
