That's a big Negative, Curty!
The USS Midway is now an sea/aerospace museam docked permanently here in San Diego! It has been here about two years now, I think. You may have seen it when it was being prepared for her retired life....
You've got to understand that these images were taken several years ago they are not live or even recent images[;)]

USS New Jersey is docked right across the river from my apartment in Camden, NJ. I'm not sure of her status, but I'm lucky to see her every morning on my walk to work.

They reckon it 1942 when it was carrying troops across the atlantic a replenishment ship they identified as HMS CAROSELLE cut across the bow of the Queen and she cut her in half. Hundreds of men died instantly.. half of them died in their bunks still asleep. They were the lucky ones[X(]. The rest were sucked under the Queen and chewed up by her massive screws.
To sum up...the tv crew were taken 50 feet below the water line in the bow of the ship were it struck the CAROSELLE. They saw and heard nothing odd until they took the tape back to the studio, where they heard something incredible........the screams of hundreds of men in the water who have realised they are about to die, and you can just make out what they realised was the collision horn going off in the background!![X(]
I believe the ship that was rammed was actually the cruiser HMS Curacoa. I have a few books on the Queen Mary and have been to her recently and seen the museum aboard her which also claims it was the cruiser HMS Curacoa. [:)]

The age of the Curacao was one of the problems, the cruiser was barely fast enough straight line to keep up w/ the zigzaging Queen Mary.
