Musta missed the fiction part too. Enemy at the Gates wasn't fiction anymore than Incredible Victory. [:)]

Both of the B. Tillman books are out of print, but if you can find them they are pretty good action books.

Second that motion about "The Cruel Sea." One of the really great books about WWII at sea.

And a fantastic movie. I'll have to check out the book one day.

Not Fiction, but definitely a must read book:  Japanese Destroyer Captain  by Hara
Other very good non-fiction related to WITP if not strictly naval would be Samuari! by Saburo Sakai and Martin Caidin's Ragged, Rugged Warriors.

I liked "The Good Sheperd" a lot.
 
For Pacific Theater I greatly enjoyed "The Last Tallyho".  Can't remember who it was by.

How about "The Corps" series by WEB Griffin. Half Navy and half Marines. Long on fiction, but damn entertaining.  Romance Novels for men. Eat some steak and eggs, bed a virgin, then go fight the Japs for the Cactus air force. Or, "Winds of War" and "War and Rememberance" by Herman Wouk. Solid history of the global war from an American naval officers perspective. I can't help looking for Cpt Pug Henry's picture when I see old photo groupings of l officers at Casablanca or Yalta. But, at three volumes and 2000 pages, it takes a commitment,

Lorei - "Sea With" a Jap Fiction War movie... its so funny to watch as this sub surfaces right off the Island from with B-29 with A bomb on board takes off... and then it is shoot down by the sub... so what that there are ten's of destroyers around[:D][:D]

Yeah - if you like Soap Operas, this should be your cup of tea...

I think Douglas Reeman also wrote under the pseudonym Alexander Kent. Great books on Revolutionary/Napoleanic era sailing warfare.

I have read all of the Hornblower series at least twice. I also read Captain from Conneticutt, the Good Shepherd, Sink the Bismark and one the title of which I can't recall. It was about a RN seaman who as a prisoner on a German cruiser escaped while they were making repairs and delayed them long enough as a sniper to let a RN squadron find them. Good books all.

It is about fictitious RN light cruiser protecting fictitious convoy for Russia... outstanding book... I have read it many times since I was a child (I "discovered" it at age of 12 I think)...
