D2 - 19h49
I was just informed that 3rd Bn HQ has completely surrendered to the enemy, including Major Scherber…
2nd Bn HQ is useless and is only left with 6 people, so that’s not an option to replace Major Scherber. Thus, I have decided to make all units of 3rd Bn report to Oberleutnant Witzig, commander of 9th Coy/3rd Bn, and all units of 2nd Bn to Oberleutnant Herterich, commander of 5th Coy/2nd Bn. What a mess.

D2 – 22h30
Night has fallen, and I have called off all offensive operations. I had the displeasure of reporting to High Command that we accomplished only half of our today's objectives by capturing Iraklion. And to even make it worse, we just lost control of it due to an incursion of an enemy unit into the city. That happened a couple of times today but we usually resume control later.
As you can see on the picture below which shows the unit info box as “fatigue”, most units certainly deserve a night of rest.
Regarding supply, the Hauptmann in charge of the supply base was pleased to report to me that his staff got a first load of supplies from the supply point completey at the far east of the map. Also, he reported to me that out of 27 requests for supply from units, already 23 have been resupplied, have already returned to the base, and that our losses have been minimum during the whole operation. Our supply lines are pretty much clear in fact, which is good news. However, the ammo and basics sent to the units in this first run should be barely enough to keep them supplied for tomorrow. Hopefully more is coming.
Well, that’s it for D2, I am signing off for the night since D3 will be a crucial day.

Fantastic. Isnt this game near damn perfect?
Superb AAR.
I have to say again the new supply feature is outstanding. Adds so much more to the game.
This has become my all time favourite game. Any format.

Oh mama that AAR is nice and may get me to buy this game. I have no idea what is going on but it looks good. Its weird with no hexes or anything i cant tell what is attacking what or what the unit strengths are by looking at them. Anyone have a tutorial link or a getting started guide or is all that included?

Buy it. It's worth every penny. The UI ingame is very good for telling you where guys are going, the footprint of their equipment, and if they are attacking/retreating/marching, etc.
HTTR was actually one of the easiest wargames to learn - in fact it drew me into wargaming. Commands are simple and easy to understand. Anything that's complicated is generally done under the hood for you. I can't say enough about this engine.

The game comes with a 90 page Getting Started Manual. This includes an introductory tutorial that walks you through all the game basics. There's also an Advanced Tutorial which you can use as an operational warfare primer. This guides you commanding an Allied Division through both the defence and offense. There's also a 208 page Reference Manual, manuals for the editors and MarkShot's Top Tips - all up over 500 pages.

You just don't know what you are missing my friend. And you don't need hexes for a wargame. After all, real generals have maps exactly such as those ones, there has never been hexes on real military maps. Units are just pointed on the map where they are in real-time exactly like it's done in HTTR and COTA.
I see you are a KP player. Korsun is as good as a turn-based, hex-based map wargame can get. I have played - and do occasionally play KP and BiN - buy COTA is as close as you would be in the boots of a WWII military commander. COTA is the closest wargame I know that models exactly what you can read among the greatest books written on operational warfare and WWII historical battles.
Buy it and download it now, you will never regret it. Wargaming is never the same after you've tried COTA or HTTR.
BTW, I am going to continue this AAR in the next few days and finish it, haven't had a lot of time in the last 2 days. If you want to see a couple more complete AARs, go check some in the HTTR forum (AAR sub-forum).

I gotta say the map design, coloring, and presentastion lend themselves for presenting very nice AARs. Just something about those screenshots -- know what I mean?
Defintely these AARs are a solid piece of advertising [:)]
To sum up = Kick Ass!

Definitely! These screenshots look better than battle maps in history books. Great AAR too.

When you add the filter tools, order/task rendering, info box options, and multi-unit select options all together, the game is pretty complete for painting some pretty good high-level AAR diagrams. The only thing that is missing is some high-level drawing support tools within the engine itself.
If I was to look at another game be it Combat Mission or Victoria, a lot more out of the game work would be required to render AAR plans for presentation than in COTA. This is mainly a result of the fact that COTA comes much closer to being played at the same level you conceptualize your plan.
