Choowee and I are going to try for a game tonight.  Anyone interested in joining us can either leave a message here or meet up with us on HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room.

We plan to get together about 1 hour from his point.  Hope to see you there!  [8D]

Hehe, I beat Herman to Choowee, but we loaded from a save and let Herman in, then I got to sink his Burke with some 16" shells from my Iowa. I was impressed at my shipping batting away those little SAMs stinging at me. Good thing Herman used the heavy stuff to sink Choowee.

Great 3-sided game, T.  Very cat-and-mouse-like.

Thanks for the game, Tony and Choowee.  See you tomorrow night, maybe.  [8D]

In my memo to the Secretary of the Navy, I defended myself by blaming the intermittent radar. I was unable to turn it off once I had engaged it, and every few minutes it gave me away!!@@

Well, the 'Secretary of the Navy' has already been informed here:
[blockquote]Bug Report: Sensors won't turn off Intermittent
[/blockquote] Let's hope that they decide to fix it before another ship is sent into harm's way.... [;)]

Cheers

Okay folks, this will almost certainly be the last weekend of the Stratsims server being available for your use. My old server is getting quite cranky so I need to put the new one into daily service instead of using it to host H3 games [:(] .

So play often this weekend. We will still offer the chat services at HarpGamer and once I'm transitioned to the new server we may host a H3 ANW server on the old hardware.

It's been fun!

Hear ye, Hear ye!

There's going to be a war! All are invited.

XXup and I are planning to be on the server 3.5 hours from this point. That's 1600h MST. Do join us if you have a chance to help us send this server into the Harpoon sunset.

Anyone interested in joining us can either leave a message here or meet up with us on HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room.

Holy Cow! We just played an 8-hour game between XXup, Evaamo, and myself. What an epic adventure. Only one minor crash throughout.

It was a fabulous three-way affair involving Kilos, Russians, Japanese and the PRC. In the end, the Kilos got through after XXup and Evaamo ganged up and annihilated my Japanese defenders. It was truly a colossal battle the could only have been played with HarpGamer providing the server.

Our hats off to you, Tony. You're a prince to let us have so much fun with it. [8D]

wow where to start...

first of all: Thank you Tony for hosting the server. You have provided, again, lots of fun!!

We had an 8 hour multiplayer session. Yes, you read right: EIGHT STRAIGHT HOURS.

We played a great 4-sided scenario using the DB2000. It was 3 of us at it, leaving the US forces to the AI.

It was great to play in a sort of "cooperative multiplayer" way, as I had chosen the Russians and the Chinese were my allies. It changes the whole multiplayer environment, really.

Next time let's hope we don't have to leave a side to the AI as it unbalances the scenario, but then again that means we need more human players willing to play online [;)]

The other great aspect of tonight's session was that we only experienced one crash, it was great fun and the game did great regarding speed.

Noticeable things:
- We were unable to hold private chats using the game's chat system. The only way we were able to communicate was using the "ALL" setting. We then had use to use irc to coordinate our actions.

Anyway, long story short: we had a blast!! Thanks again to my gaming partners tonight: Herman and XXUP.

And thanks again to Tony for providing us with the server. It was great!!

After a mandatory 8-hour rest, we are going back into the gladiator pit known as ANW.  [:D]

As this is the last weekend that the HarpGamer server will be available to us, we hope that there will be a few other willing participants before we bid adieu to the this fine opportunity.

Well, Evaamo and I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to squeeze every last second of enjoyment we could out of the HarpGamer server.  We played the PlayersDB scenario, "Incoming Mail" by Dave Steinmeyer.  It was an opposed convoy transit and it played out very similarly to the account detailed by Tom Clancy in Red Storm Rising.

First came the Subs,

Then came the Bears,

The Finale of the first act was an appearance by the Backfires.

It was a fantastic scenario.  Thanks, again, for the the use of the server.  We've played over 50 scenarios on it in the last few weeks and I am certain that everyone has enjoyed every moment of it.   [&o]

Met another new fellow on the HarpGamer server for a battle.

Adam / Tomcatek was definitely a pro.  He handily cleaned my clock without suffering a single loss! [X(]

When this guy says that he is a newbie, Don't Believe Him For a Second!

We played Power Sweep with the PlayersDB.  Thanks for the scenario, Dave Steinmeyer!  [:)]

Thanks, again, to HarpGamer for the use of their server! [8D]

We have a stay of execution!  [:D]

Looks like we will be able to play on the server for a few more days with Wednesday being the last day.  So, if anyone is still looking for an MP game, drop a line here or look for us on HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room.

ok--as someone who is not all that computer savvy--can I get a step by step description of how to connect to the server so that I can play mano y mano.

The easiest way is to have someone talk you through the procedure. If you can meet us on either the HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room, that would help. The first link is easiest as it does not require any special software. Just click and you are in. The second link is where most of us hang out. However, you do need to have or load the Java software to make use of it. Since you need to find an opponent, that is probably the best first step.

If you just want to sign onto the server,

1) Start your ANW Launcher
2) Select the Multiplayer Options tab
3) Change your IP / Port settings to IP: 72.21.228.42 Port: 14342
4) Hit OK to close your launcher
5) Re-start your ANW launcher and select the Multiplayer Options tab
6) Hit the button "Launch Harpoon3Client.exe and connect to server" button

You should appear in the Lobby.

It is usually best to make arrangements for a game before logging onto the server.

Welcome aboard, Tico. Looking forward to a game. [8D]
