No it wasn't Sixty minutes and it's not nice to speak ill of the dead. <G> poor old Richard's grave would still be warm too. [;)]

No it was the Investigators and the reporter was the then Sydney Morning Herald's computer editor, who was forced to flee Australia after being caught out plagerising the work of others. Now there's karma for you.[:)]

Yes your right, I shall retract my comment with as much sincerity as he would have done in a similar instance. [:-]

I lost my house on that one.

I could possibly see losing my house over spending too much on wargames, but not from developing them, that's one I hadn't thought about.

However, I'm thinking you must have had some sort of thoughts regarding the possible consequences of the name. Surely some little voice in your head said, "this could potentially be trouble in the long run", and you didn't listen. Am I right?

Don't be shy, we all make those choices at some point. Some result in lost houses, others result in the presence of She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed, children, mortgages, etc, etc.....

(surprisingly these little voices never appear in relation to decisions about kayaks, recumbent bicycles, bandsaws, ultralights<well maybe just a bit in that case>.....)

Buy it, trust me its excellent.

If you don't buy many games then there are hours and hours of fun to be hand!

I bought it.

And got the package from my bro. He downloaded it and sent it express to my place. Just getting into it now....

But even with a couple of hours under my belt, this game is amazing. Why hasn't anyone else thought of this type of movement and battle? And the order delays.....Totally love it so far. I can only imagine this being used for Large operational games as well.....Bloody good system. Its a pity the scenario's don't continue into a campaign, but that can wait.

Ai is a bastard though....[8D]

I do have a dilemma though. My Grandfathers Battalion, the 2/2nd, is in most of the scenarios (Without an officer or unit history I might add[:@][;)]) and I am finding it hard to commit it to battle....my existence depends on its survival after all...[:D]

<G> I should have checked that. I'll have to chew Steve out on that one. [;)] I served with the 2/2nd as platoon leader up in Newcastle, back in the 70's. Well by then it was 2 RNSWR.

No wonder the army went broke in the 70s those RNSWR shoulder titles are so big only grunt shoulders would have been big enough to support them. [:D]

LOL. I am sure there'd be a unit history for 2/2 in my notes.... for when you write that tool to copy unit histories across scenarios [;)]

OK here's your chance to make an imput. Could you please write up a very brief unit history and either post it here or email it to me and I'll paste it in the game.

Will do. When I get back to the house tonight, I will check out some of the already written unit blurbs and write up a history for the 2/2nd, with CO at the time of game (Greece and Crete. Will check if they are included in Malta Campaign.). You will have it tomorrow sometime.

Fair enough Arjuna, I know its a niche market but it might be a little more nichey, so to speak, if potential customers baulk when first spotting that price. However, I will keep my eye on the reviews as they come out. I would much rather have the money going into the company coffers than middlemen....

But im not the only one in charge of the old debit card see?[;)]

Eyes are peeled.

Lol Sapper I know where you're commin from man. Hell I even live in the US and I still think their prices are too high for HERE! lol But, thas just me. ;)

Have to be upfront wit yah though. Chances of finding more recent titles by Matrixgames on Ebay or Amazon.com is slim to none. I check nearly everyday and these bloody blokes ain't sellin their "direct download" copies. I'm a bit skeptical buying a direct download copy anyways....that transfer of ownership of the license worries me more than getting the game itself. I just know if I get one like that I'll have problems on the Matrixgames end. Retail was so much better an easier.

At any rate check out this link: http://yhst-12000246778232.stores.yahoo.net/
This guy doesn't charge an arm and a leg for Matrixgames, and you might be able to get a pretty good shipping free from him also. I believe he uses World Wide USPS Priorty Mail. It's worth a looksee perhaps you can save 20 whatever your dollars are out there over there under there whatever. lol

Yes, the prices are quite....steep to say the least.

I got the direct download and it works fine, but im a naturally leery person when it comes to not having something real in my hands....Old fashioned I guess.[:D]

Its my first purchase in this manner, and so far so good, but generally speaking im not going to go on an online buying spree without really looking at the goods. This game was worth it for sure, as for the others? I will put my questions up in their forums if i think they look good.

Thanks for that link by the way. Have you passed on the info to Matrix? Im surprised they haven't tryed using USPS.

Cheers mate

Burn the installer exe-file on a cd and it'll be just as "real" as the retail box - minus the colour cover. Put the money saved thus in a piggy bank for when "Battle for the Bulge" arrives [;)]

Don't worry, if the next game plays similar to COTA I will get it, as much as I am SICK TO DEATH of the western/Eastern fronts in proper wargames.....[>:]

Maybe that way, eventually, this system, with a campaign type followover for units will be in when Malaya/Singapore, Western Desert, New Guinea, Burma, etc Panther game come out.....[&o]

And my brother burned it onto disk for me and sent it direct....I am mainly talking about the manual....You know how much ink costs these days? nevermind...ranting.[;)]

We did but had way too many problems with them, also we need services that allow us tracking.

Actually it is very very cheap these days. Look out for refill kits or services in your town that refill inkjet cratridges.

You can even get third party ink that is of very good quality and suitbale for pro photo or illustration prints.
