oops - crossposting fun.
I was thinking of going Japan as the AI seems to play better on the defensive. Or would you recommend otherwise?

OK.,
I want to let you know one thing I have found - the AI is no respector of such niceties as STATIC TROOPS. So the one drawback as playing Japanese vs AI Allied is that those frozen Chinese troops will move when the AI wants them - it will be tough.

EDIT: Just underscores the oldest lesson in pc gamming - The Friken AI CHEATS!

How can it break the static rule? If a device is given a Load Rating of 9999, then it's nailed to the floor...[&:]

Back to your original question mefi - the days of "Uber CAP" are definately over - with the changes in the latest patch the follow-on bombers WILL get through

Mare Bellum is my main mod (scenario 15-based); of course there are statics, but no new ones. In Downfall, however, I've been entertaining thoughts of making several types of static Japanese defensive units, including militia brigades and suicide boat units...
It's all a bit stuck at the moment, what with land combat issues, and the Forge of Freedom beta testing effort.

Big B - is there an error in your version of stock 15 scenario with the Japanese landings in the Phillipines? For some reason, on the morning of the 8th I have no troops ashore on Luzon and also the APs and AKs are totally empty. If the invasions are not being carried out (to better reflect the historical landing dates) would it not be better to have the fleets starting from Mako on the 7th with the units and supplies aboard and prepped? Sorry if this isn't possible as I've not played with the editor and have no idea on its limitations.

There probably is (groan) if you are on the Andrew Brown Map scenario ...let me look into it - sorry
EDIT: Found it - I knew what the problem was - labor dispute...they wouldn't board the ships [:D]
I'm taking care of it now - pm me with your email and I'll get the corrected scen to you ASAP, then I'll send back to Andrew Brown for correction.

Sorry Big B. Bad form not to cite exact patching on my part. CHS mod with extended map installed, Andy's extended map version of your mod, scenario 192, every little switch available in every options menu is showing green. Oh, and 1.8 official patch.
edit : [&o] Thank you. PM sent.

From memory, the AI WILL leave static LCUs in place if they are CD units.
