The USS Pompano proved that she is still on station off Ominato by attacking one of my ASW groups that were hunting her. Luckily her fish were once again duds.

The 11 year old freighter proved to be pretty tough, and her crew attempted to make San Francisco Bay before the flooding overwhelmed her. However, she did not count on running into I-22 which was occupying the next box in my picket line. I-22 finished the ship off before she could reach the shallows and beach herself. Several of the crew were seen in the water afterwards and local fishing boats were in the immediate vicinity.
