This is why I try to keep panzer divisions out of the front line - 20% of committed tanks lost.

As part of my defensive preparations I have made wholesale changes to the Army leadership - Guderian become chief of staff (Place holder picture). Any general with an initiative rating lower than 6 is fired. Reserves are triggered by initiative.

That commander's report screen (battle tab) is really useful. I haven't used it yet, but I can see how it provides an really excellent summary of how things are going as a snapshot, but at a level deeper than just who has held or been pushed back. In addition to the battle you spotted to highlight in the following ss, I was fascinated with the Russian losses incurred near Aleksin. Despite driving thdefenders out, they lost over half their tanks - a pyrrhic victory surely?
Will your battered forces be in good enough condition to lauch Blau (or more usefully your version of Blau) after the spring mud, do you think?

Hi Stuart. That attack was against 78th Sturm Division, and looking at their TOE, it looks like they had a good number of AT Guns. Patience is a virtue, but you do have access to the developers forum, and the full year AAR is posted there, so you can see how I end up! [;)]

Ahhh, the 78th ID - the badges under my name are from the 78th - before and after the 'Sturm' epithet (the gauntlet is after Götz von Berlichingen). They get integral assault gun battalions in 1943, plus mortars rockets and TD's.
The question about '42 was rhetorical really - I'm sorry if I blart on too much!

Start of turn 27: I will try to have Panzers in the front line for the minimum amount of time while waiting for infantry to take its place.

My "Strategic Reserve" is pretty much the reinforcements due to arrive over the next 12 weeks. They will be sent to the most threatened parts of the front.

Start of turn 27: Casualty report shows losses in the battles that took place during turn 26. The left hand column - "Recent Battle and Non-combat losses" represents attritional "wear and tear" losses. Recent codes changes have seen these losses double.

Start of turn 28: I hope you don't mind me posting more, but we are waiting for a hotfix before we can start testing in earnest. On "Normal" settings the SU will generally getting fewer MP's which means they can't always advance into a hex I've retreated from, so I can move back in.

Start of turn 28: The routs begin as Tula is threatened from north and south. In take 1 the bug caused about 40 routs in this turn. My defense reduced the routs to 6-8 per turn. With the bug fixes the risk of rout should only start occurring about 2 months into the blizzard, but if you rotate units into the line and out of the line to cities where they can get R&R (and replacements if they are on a rail line) you can probably keep everyone apart from Axis Allies above the rout threshold.

Start of turn 28: Fortunately the rail network means I can get fresh troops to 17th Army pretty quickly, and get the routed units up to strength and ready for frontline duty.
