Ok now I have a problem RobW contacted me and is willing to play, I am going to start the game with him me Canada, him ANZAC. I belive there is a player waiting so matching him up shouldn't be a problem. If this will not work for you ( TT ) then post and advise.

looks like I must apologise - I responded to Viking2 on Firday last week but it seems that technology let me down. If it is a problem to go back to the original pairing let me know - he has mailed me twice today so I guess we will stick to the groups as they were last week!

Ran into a technical difficulty

I have been playing RED in our first World Cup round and we have been having a great time. But with the last send I sent him he got the "saved game failed to load" Now I am going to rezip and resend but this ussually never works. So the question is what do we do. Do I replay my turn (doesn't seem fair). Do I replay my turn and purposely try to get the same type of results(easier said then done)? Do I replay my turn and pull back so that no combat is initiated? I don't know.

IMHO would have to say replay the turn and try to achieve the same results. Do not "search" out any new areas on the second go and follow the pattern of play from the first turn.

Before you Zip the files check them to see if they have the sam time stamp, 3 of them should if they don't it will not load, it happens to me every once in a while, there is a post on it from one of the "SPWAW GODs"

When that happens, I generally let my opponent do the turn over, trusting to his honesty. Belisarius did twice, once with slightly better results, once with much worse, so its pretty fair.

Backup

What i usually do is that, just before closing (next turn) i save the game*.
and copy those files to a backup directory.
Then i restart the game do a final walkover to see if i forgot something and presss next turn (and see my artillery shoot where i did not tell them  )

This way if something is wrong i have an almost finished turn waiting to recuperate.

*How do you save an PBEM game? Simple, just press exit game (the button with the up arrow, above the "next turn" button).

3/2 ACR, The Arty advantage for the US is a consequence of using "Country Characteristics." It adds spice to the game that each country has strengths and weaknesses (although some seem to have only weaknesses, obviously). I don't think you should "fix" the American advantage. You have to deal with it when you play against the Americans.

(And Curieus, your arty IS getting close. )

Few ways I know of to "fix" the artillary advantage of USA. Have them agree not to buy any Forward observers. Put strick limits on the total amount of artillary available ie:5-10% max. Take Country Characteristics off.

I tend to go for limiting the max artillary if I can. Think of it this way in a 10000 point game you would each only get 500 point worth of artillary. You get less artillary that you are being hit with every turn.

Of course, the points he spends on artillery is points he's not spending on Wolverines. :D

Not to start this whole debate again, but I am not giving up the American arty advantage. The Soviets have very inexpensive equipment, which balances out the arty. Soviet numbers are as good as US in general, etc etc etc. Each country has its plus and minuses, and they should be kept on. If you wish to play another country, let me know...

PS-I will not agree to 5% arty either!;)
