MR, I think that works. If timed close, the elephants won't know which way to turn. Even if just a little off on the timing, if they turn to engage they'll be struck from flank or rear, as Yousername noted.
If we hit quick, we still may have time to react to those suspected following units.
Also, we are trying to replicate our Soviet Hero's claims and this situation sounds very much like Yerokhin's version of his encounter with elephants. We want to see the result of our armor against the flank and rear of the huge German beasts.
For the Rodina, comrade!

You're about to find out just how well those claims hold up. Not only that but at ranges much shorter than 1400 meters.
Good Hunting.

I really liked some of the video that people put in DAR threads. I don't know if Mad Rush knows how to do it but I would like to see some multimedia video of the tank melee.

I don't have the capacity to do video at the moment. However, I have saved every turn so the opportunity to make one is there.
Good Hunting.

When he releases the scenario to the public, you can make your own videos. Then share them with us.

Can't I make my own scenarios, make videos, and then share them with you? I would just film the woods on the east.
But since there is certainly an interested number of wargamers that are following this thread, I thought that using the multimedia that is commonly available might bring this up a notch. Mad Russian might even do voiceover work telling the tale of The Siberian Tiger, etc.
I think Mobius has done some 'tubes in the past.

Of course you can make your own scenarios and share them with us! That's the whole point.
My point is that, at the moment, I've got other things going on and won't be making a video of this contest. I have the saved game files and might do it later. Just not at this moment.
Playing the turn and editing the screen shots takes what time I have at the moment.
Good Hunting.

The we open fire!

The targets are well under 1000 meters. Getting hits at this range should ensure good results!

Then just in front of 2nd Tank Company German infantry lose their nerve and break back towards the hill as our tanks move forward.
Good Hunting.

I think if I were sitting in an open field and that tank company started advancing, I'd skedaddle too. I'm anxious to see if you are able to synchronize your two flanks to catch those elephants. I think if you aren't, you could be in for trouble.
Thanks

As the tanks from 1st Tank Company open fire the Elephant buttons up.
At this point there are Soviet tanks on three sides of this elephant. All well under 1000 meters range.
Good Hunting.

I'm with Rick. Seeing a whole company of T-34s rolling towards me and with only the cloth of my uniform for protection, I'd be moving fast in the other direction.
In this case, they are running towards our other wave of the ambush.
This should be very interesting.

Our tankers are not stupid. Lt. Moiseev's tank platoon of 1st Tank Company reverses while firing at the elephants.
Good Hunting.

While 1st Tank Company duels with an Elephant, 3rd Tank Company races down the western flank. One platoon holds it's ground and also engages an Elephant.
Now both 1st and 3rd Tank Companies have tanks firing at Elephants at under 600 meters.
Who will score the first hits?
Good Hunting.

Orders for 3rd Tank Company take them a bit further north. To a position that will bring them in against the rear quarter of the Elephants when the turn and race at them from the west.
Good Hunting.

Between 1st and 3rd Tank Companies they score the first hits of the battle.
Ominously, neither of them are penetrating hits!
Good Hunting.

The Germans would only sit still and be targets for so long.
Then the huge guns open fire! The report was loud enough to be heard miles away.
Good Hunting.
