The losses were higher at Davao than I would have liked:

There's an Allied sub popping up right in the middle of my major shipping lanes. What an insult.

I have plenty of escorts....it's just that none of them decided to fly. Maybe I need to spread those squadrons out a bit more because there's too many squadrons at one base or something.

Hi Larry, it wouldn't hurt for you to make plans in the future for the Miura Detatchment to get to Luzon and form up with the rest of 16th Division. Ideally before the division gets to Clark as the smaller elements will take more casualties than if combined.

The ground combat at HK didn't go as well as I had hoped. Maybe I need to soften them up a bit more before I DA them.

Oh. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks. I'll do it.

Your engineers reduced enemy fortifications, and you lost 3 squads
vs 13. If is the first assault it's not bad, it's good.

The ground combat at Wake was an unmitigated disaster. Almost nothing has gone right with the Wake affair so far. Even the air attack earlier was ineffectual.

So um........I should keep it up...that's what you are saying? Well, okay......let's do it then.

At least in my experience is so.
And for Wake, you can move one of your Nav Gd (that in the first turn are set for
invade Tarawa or Makin) here and then you capture Wake without problem; now your
infantry AV is 24 vs 29. If you add the 50-60 AV of one Nav Gd, le jeux sont fait.

Larry around Wake do you have any surface ships preferably CA or larger??  If so recon and bombard, until you get reinforcements. Wake doesn't start with a lot of supply and bombardment eats supply up at a pretty decent rate. Recon and get the DL or detection level up before and during bombardment. The chances of success are that much better.

"...but you need to run a balance in Manpower to be ready [ for LCU manning ]...."
Oh. Okay, now I know. Thank you for that.

My blockers didn't block adequately and there's at least two Allied raiders headed for my Miri / Brunei landings. D'oh. It looks like a race for the beaches and I'm losing.

Hmm. Didn't a large land mammal warn that the AI will surface raid north Borneo until you have Singers under control and to not open Miri to fuel shipments yet? [:)]

Good idea. I have a BB headed for Wake and it's still about five or six days away and the KB is headed for Wake and I've got some AK's loading up on supplies for Wake and per the advice from, I think it was cohimbra, I'm going to ship some more foot dudes in and we'll get this thing done. We'll get 'er done.

Yeah, well, uh......so umm......see, the thing is I thought maybe I had Singers under control and everything. Had my blockers ready, had the subs positioned.......it was looking pretty good overall I thought. I guess I thought wrong. Well, live and learn.

Larry - your Wake Is. is very much like my Wake Is. Bring those Yankee scoundrels to thier knees! Overall your doing very well and are publishing a informative and enjoyable AAR. I just saw and D/L'd Reluctant Admiral 4.1 and am considering switching over to it.
The new maps and files apparently will wipe out my current game(s) What to do? What to do? I'm thinking of trying my hand at an AAR using 4.1 but after reading and learning so much in these AAR's, I'm afraid mine will be sick, lame & lazy in comparison[8D].

Okie dokie dear reader: It's 17:53 hours on Friday 11May2012 and I'm in receipt of moves from Rob so I'll have to spend .....oh, probably the next 24 hours, doing my moves for Rob so hang in there while I'm away.

EDIT: it's now 18:37 same day as above and Rob and I decided to do a restart knowing now what we know now. If you know what I mean. I ran a whole task force into his Bataan minefield and lost about a division of troops and he was trying an alternate strategy that wasn't working out and so we mutually agreed to do a restart. Cool beans. Now back to this AAR.

Why don't you make an entirely new directory of WITP and copy over the all the old files into it and THEN do your replace of the map and data files in the new directory. Have both ready to go at an instant's notice. Yes?

I for one would love to read about RA 4.1 and get in on what's new and different. But unless you're retired and don't have anything better to do all day, like me, your AAR would probably be slow in output if you tried to keep up with me in the details of putting together an AAR etc. I'm kinda of proud of my AAR's and I take care to make it better if I can. Thanks you guys and all your gratitude you keep me wanting to keep up the output.

Why are you transporting planes, why not just fly them? Ki-15 and G4M have good range, you can pretty much fly them anywhere you want...
ORIGINAL: PaxMondo
Especially Netties .. should never have to load them.
Works for me. I'm still learning this game. Um.....I'm just about to capture Shortlands and I'd really like to put some planes there and there's no consecutive chain of airbases to fly some planes there so I'm guessing I'll have to ship some but I guess that's just about the only kind of situation where you'd ship planes. Yes?
Netties have a range of about 50 or so ... Takao to Truk to Shortlands. 2 turns and you are there. Instead of 15 turns on a boat ....
