I don't want to count chickens but it looks like the drinks are on me - what are you having?
How about a nice cup of tea instead. Much nicer in the morning.

Warspite1
That would be good thank-you. Have you got a couple of biscuits to go with it?

I am absolutely gutted for myself...but I do have some relief in the fact that Warspite1, my mum and others (who I freely admit I didn't really take into account because I never had that British Identity) still have a union.
What union that is will become apparent.

Unfortunately not. But I have a nice loaf of home baked bread.

Fife about to declare - this should be the one that takes the No's over the official winning line; 85,112 votes required.

That's it the No's have won. Scotland remains part of the Union. The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland survives. Now it's all about how the country moves on from here. But that's for later, I'm emotionally exhausted. I need an hours kip before work.....

Yeah...****** woop woop.
I guess the celebrations and congratulations really depend on what side of the argument you are [&:]

I don't doubt the importance of this event was lost on many
But I would ask that
a) You find out before posting what seems like a funny to you and
b) William Wallace was NOT Mel Gibson - he was actually a Scottish hero and (fuck - ok) a braveheart.
For a start off, I've been up for 24 hours now because whilst the decision seems a non event to some and a joke to others, as myself and Warspite1 have pointed out, this was a HUGE event in the political landscape for anyone in the UK.
In short - a bit of sensibility - please.

Hi JudgeDredd, Your deep feelings of sadness are noted. I noticed that 89% of those who could vote did vote. So everyone had a say in what they wanted. The majority have spoken. I do understand this vote will take time to digest. my, hope is that goodwill, eventually will overcome the hurt.

Being half Scottish/half English I am hugely relieved by the result. I think we'll end up with a more federal system which I have no problem and think will ultimately be better for everyone, but the idea of Britain not being Britain kept me awake at nights. This is the only political event I've actually ever cared about and one I didn't get to vote in which made it even more frustrating.

Absolutely Zap. [;)]
A couple of posts were just a bit quick with wit given how soon they were posted after the result...and I don't take kindly to William Wallace comments made in slight just because Mel Gibson portrayed him and a very dubious film...and it's been a long night as Warspite1 will attest to.
Suffice to say life will go on...Scotland will get more powers (maybe) and continue to blame Westminster for their issues. Of course, there's a very distinct and REAL chance they WON'T get the powers "vowed" to them...in which case the referendum will pop up in quick order I would guess.
On the other hand people will suddenly realise what powers Holyrood were given are not the powers Holyrood wanted. [:(]

I share all your sentiment except your relief...but I'm sure you and others may be able to relate to that.

Just wish they'd shut up about it now. Was already driving me nuts as everyday the news banged on and on and on about it.
Seems the Scottish are going to get an even better deal again anyway. So it wasn't a total loss. Us poor blighters up north have to take whatever the government throws at us with no chance of any sweetners.

I wouldn't bank on it. Cameron, Clegg and Milliband were on a drug fuelled rampage...They were promising things they couldn't deliver because they hadn't actually discussed them with their parties!

We are still living in interesting times though. Like JD I am gutted by the result but that's democracy in action.
Roll on the next referendum in ten years time [;)]
Cheers
