Gary, you seem to be lacking an aircraft pack. I could do some myself, but, I am not sure I could capture your style... any chance of one coming up?

Hi ernieschwitz,

For aircraft I've been using Ormand's graphics. They're much better than any aircraft I could come up with.

And, I will say the same for his troops. I couldn't get too far with poser and clothing.

It looks like the post for those went dark since it was a while ago and hasn't been looked at. I will put the zip up on the FourSeasons post. They are part of the Fourseasons package as well as Gary's earlier images (with permission). Don't forget about the General's Project either, which I hope to revitalize.

Re-read the entire thread. Still great stuff!

Wondering, what were you using to render the graphics. Can you explain the process and mention the programs you used?

I think that he used Poser for the pics with people. This is a great option, but does have a bit of a learning curve, mostly to pose. I think it used fairly extensively in animation as well. More importantly, the bodies need props like uniforms, etc. I looked into this a few years ago, and this is what discouraged me the most from doing anything. There are a few free props around the web, but not enough many to fill all the needs for various peoples, etc. Thus, one needs to make them with a 3D program. But, not only that, in order to use them as a prop on a body, there is an additional step to make them conform to the body. I never got that far, and gave up.

For the vehicles, I think he used a fairly simplistic 3D model program and then imported and rendered them in Poser.

For the aircraft I made, I used Blender, which is a free, but rather sophisticated 3D model program with a beautiful render engine. It has a steep learning curve as well. But, it is not a great choice, near as I can tell for "animating" people.

GaryChildress?

Are you the same GaryChildress from CFC? If so you are awesome! To this day I still use many of the units you created for CivIII: Conquests in my homemade scenarios.

I'm known as Moff Jerjerrod over at CFC.

If you are not the same GaryChildress from CFC I must say your work here is impressive but I do see it has the same signature style of Gary over at CFC. LOL

Hi Moff Jerjerrod, yes, it's me. I've also made quite a few free props on Renderosity for Poser users.

Hi, Ernieschwitz. Ormand is correct. I used Poser for pretty much all the renders. I have an extensive library of conforming clothing and props. I used Wings3D (freeware) to create some of the props that I couldn't find elsewhere. Also, all the vehicles and non-human subformation graphics were created using Wings3D and then imported into Poser for rendering.

Gary, was curious if you have any plans on making modern images on the scale of your world war 2 one's.

At this point, I don't think I'll be modding any new graphics for ATG, at least not for now. Maybe in the future. Not sure yet.

Gary, Ernie or Erich, if I want to use this image of modern Russian infantry, which program would be best to use? Thanks

Depends on what you mean by use. Basically any jpg, png or bmp can be used as a unit graphic. The most limiting factor in using a picture is it's dimensions. Now if you want to manipulate it, then that is a whole different ball game. ...
