Desperate looking position Brian :(
To be honest I might try something a bit off the wall here, a kind of hail Mary :) Namely, run fast North of Orel and try to hold South of Orel. This would most likely create a big Northern overhang which could be dangerous for the Soviets in 42. This plan would probably prove disastrous but it is active at least and could force your opponent into a mistake.
The commitment needed at Orel and South would be very heavy so North of roughly Kaluga would just be a screen designed to stop cav exploiting too far (hopefully) :) Even so I would anticipate them comfortably reaching the Dvina, possibly further, before running out of steam.

more Russian air attacks.

We need one of those new data centers to determine opaque attack pattern

and for fun another rr cut on the Tula line. Same spot.

Maybe this area has nice forests to hide in with elves and cookies.

Stalino open with recon.

Mp's are horrible. No way I can take Rostov and get the south army hq split.

We were prepared to make a second stronger attack.

Now I own the Crimea.

My 41' highwater mark.

I did not know that German rr crews could just take the week off willy nilly.

My command is weak!

Good job on securing the Crimea, you can send those units to pluck gaps in the front now. Try to put your Sec Army HQs in key railnodes, Kharkov would be a good example. Basically everything that has more than 2 raillines going out. And then just pray that the AI doesn't do something stupid.

So here is the big snow strategy

This highlighted unit 16-48 20th armor, if unhindered, could reach the hex just SW of Tikvin.

5 hexes left, 3 hexes north west (past the rough hex), and then 4 hexes north east.

That is the plan.

All armor will be redirected west to open a corridor.

I am working on both sides of the river to clear lanes..

Here was a horrible hasty attack result

Better was this directional attack against a strong point

Key hasty attack lineup. I did not want to use mp's to surround and rout.

I figured I could keep attacking and move this hex north of my penetration and out of the way
