"Soldiers, sailors and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force ... about to embark upon the Great Crusade"

One year early but otherwise an almost historical D-Day begins. Opposition when I look around looks fairly light. I have another wave ready to go if any ports would be abandoned.

In Spain Bilbao is cleared out and preparation to try to breakthrough into France begins.

In the North of Russia the Finns show up again crushing my meagre screening force.

Vitebsk falls but otherwise pretty calm on the central front.

I am not that happy with how I have played in the south. I have gotten greedy and overconfident. I forget the goal is to kill Germans more then seize land. So I am tossing mech corps to the left and right lost 3 now and a couple of more might go. On the other hand the Germans are running out of units so it is a race if I can make his position indefensible before I run out of offensive steam. Very exciting [:)].

I think with the BoA finally seems to have turned a corner ( I still dont understand why, no circumstances have changed but then over 2 turns 23 sub factors including 2 subs sunk happened) I will dare to open the line to the USSR from the US so the Soviets can build up easier for 1944.

In Spain the Allies break into France.

In France breakout and try to go for some ports.

Northern Russia there is a war of maneuver in the forests with the finns. The Germans retreat a bit.

Southern front more both German and Soviet corps are shattered. The struggle is epic. Not much Germans left now but my mechunits look very vulnerable if some German reinforcements arrive this could get ugly. I have also built way too little infantry.

Advance into France continues. I get across the Garonne river we will see if I am allowed to stay there.

All ports in Spain now allied except Gibraltar.

In France some more ports liberated. If and when I can link up with the forces coming from Spain then there will be no supply problems for the allies. Without Spain the ports themselves in France wont support a very big army at all. Also there wont even be any partisans. That is a fairly big drawback on the idea of taking Spain as the Axis I think.

Central front Germans retreat a bit more.

In the southern part I try to rest a bit. I capture the mountain hexes leading into the hills and plains in Hungary. Budapest not far away now. I am still scared though that 20 arm and 15 inf could maybe inflict quite a bit of damage.

Everything looking weak and tired and I have lost 7 mobile units. But I might stand still now rest of July and then see if there is any steam left in August and September. Knocking out Rumania would be great of course. Think the Rumanian army is like 10 corps strong.

In France a bit faster then expected the forces from Spain joins up with the forces in northern France. In a turn or 2 the rail line will be connected and a lot of ammo, oil and SPAM beef and other stuff will flow into France.

The axis have scraped together a frontline kind of. But looking at it it consists of a lot of Hungarians, Rumanians and Italians. And since most people here know their history we all know it doesnt end all that well. There are 2 german mobile units facing 8 soon 9 allied.

In Finland the Finnish forces are in serious trouble again and I dont think there will be all that much German assistance this time.

In the south the struggle continues. Sources in Berlin have heard the leader ranting something about Victory or Death!
I lost another 2 mech corps so 8 or 9 lost now. I did eliminate an arm corps in return as well clearing up the pocket on the crimea. I have 400 on Soviet replacements but still the Soviets are down 400 points from 2250 to 1850 approximately.

My infantry on the flank looks really weak so does the German mobile units I can see but it is not over might be more pain coming. I have almost given up on Rumania must turn North and try to deflect the Germans. I have a last reserve of a 18 strenth mech corps and a 9 strength inf army that I will rail down next turn.

Since Tripoli is importatn for OItalian surrender nowadays I send some units to Libya to try and take it.
