What are you looking for Sprior - Panasonic, Samsung?

The LGs have some good reviews, Mrs P is enamoured of the 60in model.

Aren't they all.....[X(]

Good luck with the hunt - I would be interested to hear what you go for as we need to get a flat screen soon. Well, when I say need, I mean I want, but the missus won't hear of it until ours breaks [:(]

Just lost Abby the Hamster dog today. Passed over the Rainbow Bridge at about 2:00 pm Alabama time.
Sorry to hear that, John. Enjoy her memories, as I do our former companions.

Hey John, sorry for the loss of your family member.  They take a little piece of us with each of them as they go ahead of us across the bridge, then there will be a huge dog/cat pile waiting to jump all over us and lick us to death when we get there.  [:)]
Sigh. Yeah, that's what the Rainbow Bridge says. It was very quick. She was fine in the morning, bouncing around for food and walkies. Went out for an eye exam and when I got home, Abby was on the floor unable to walk. Took her in to Ann and got the bad news. Do nothing, she dies; do surgery, then maybe. Ann said not quite 50/50, meaning really shitty odds. I asked if 20% was realistic and she said she would do her best. Okey dokey. She let me in the OR and I held Abby and petted her head and kissed her nose and let her know I was there while Ann was doing the anaesthesia. I was the last thing she saw. She didn't make it. But she tried.

They do take a piece of us with them when they cross the Rainbow Bridge, don't they? I'm ready for that dog/cat pile waiting to jump all over me and lick me to death when it's my turn to get there. Meantime, bro, I have a seriously empty hole where my heart was.

There's a breeder, not too far away, with a couple leftover runts that I can take my pick of and bring home tomorrow for a big buck. Not that I give a rats arse about runts, and a grand is only money, but it's really late at night, and I'm still sitting here in front of the screen because I'm too afraid to shut everything down and go to bed and have to realize it's going to be empty. Nobody's going to lick my face at 5 am tomorrow - c'mon Dad, I gotta pee.

I'm, uh, a complete wuss when it comes to dogs., especially Springers. Just can't imagine living without one.

On your way to the breeder, make a stop at the local shelter and see if there is someone there who picks you out. [8D]
Absolutely! While I can understand and appreciate the breed-specific affiliation, loving a 'throw-away' mutt with a heart of gold is one of life's great treasures...

Give it a try...

Does anyone watch Phineas and Ferb?
My 7 YO likes it on occasion. I appreciate Doofenschmirtz evil incorporated and the somewhat odd relationship with agent P.

The LGs have some good reviews, Mrs P is enamoured of the 60in model.

If I may, we just researched and bought a 55in Samsung. Did a lot of in-store comparison shopping, then bought through Amazon for a variety of reasons.

My perception was there is a huge viewing impression difference between 46in and 55in, but little between 55 and 60. Price is not linear either.

LG has good ratings. Samsung too. We went LCD after looking at the cost difference on pure LED models. We never really considered plasma.

Big factor for us was number and type of inputs. We had a home theater sound system from olden times we spliced in; the installed TV speakers are fine for everyday, but lack oomph for action movies. If you do a lot of movie watching you'll probably need to budget for at least a soundbar. We also spent for a decent cabinet to support it. Didn't want just a rack. The big TVs are heavy, but you also need to make sure there's clearance on width. Many cabinets from just two years ago are maxed on a 46in, and bigger widths allow you to hit them when passing by.

A big field of competitive action these days is the on-line built-ins, especially the Web widgets preprogrammed in. If you intend to stream the Internet to it, Netflix, Hulu, or similar, the widgets aren't as important. Some upper-class TVs have built-in wireless recievers, but most don't. Our Samsung wants an accessory reciever which plugs into a premade port. I think it's about $80 USD. We haven't worried about wireless streaming yet.

Also, I have a 6-YO analog Tivo which won't do the TV justice. Can't even see the digital channel tier on the cable system. We'll be popping for an HD Tivo this summer.

Good luck with the purchase. It's expensive, but we've already determined we will never go to the movies again. In our TV room nobody texts in the dark, and the popcorn costs $.15.
